What are you doing? Why are you looking in the description of a pack as self explanatory as this? Oh, alright! Read on.

This pack makes the new block Blackstone have the same texture on all six sides, which it doesn't normally do. You may not have noticed this but the Blackstone behaves like a pillar, like its cousin Basalt, with a side texture and an end texture. However unlike Basalt, which is obviously a pillar-type block, Blackstone has very similar textures, with the end one basically being a darker Basalt end (a kind of cobble-y texture) and a very nice unique texture on the sides. This just tweaks that a little bit, to put the either the side texture or the end texture all round, making the block look nicer when used in floors and ceilings, and overall more rock-ish, and less column-ish.

I know this is a big ask, but building on this, would it be possible to make a version for deepslate? Deepslate has a unique top and bottom, like blackstone. Despite the ability to rotate it, whether its all the top or all the sides will affect how it looks in caves.

I think they have the current one- cobble-y texture on top- to make it seem similar to basalt and other similar igneous rocks, because those naturally form cool-looking columns and blackstone is one of those rocks (so if you found real-life blackstone somehow, it'd be somewhat pillared, like basalt), but your pack is great too!

The closest thing in real life to blackstone is either obsidian (blackstone looks very similar to obsidian, especially its side), or coal (the top texture is very lumpy, like lumps of coal).

Yes. However Blackstone does not point the way you place it (like logs and, more importantly, basalt) and the side textures aren't pillar like. I just like the side texture a lot more, and also made a second version for those who have the opposite opinion)

Will it be updated for 1.16.2? They upped the data and resource pack number from 5 to 6.

It's cool. Also, an easier alternative than using a bunch of .json files would have been to copy the top texture and rename the file so that it is the side texture.
