Io m trying to--as much as possible--though I cano t guarantee you wono t find some minors ones (i.e. when I get around to making the mobs look like particular monsters, youo re liable to get a clue what those monsters are even if you haveno t met them in the books as of yet).

The spoiler tags seem to be acting funny for some reason. Until I figure out why, you can read what I wrote on the Minecraft forums: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1068367-16x-11-wheel-of-time-tailored-texture-pack-very-very-wip-%E2%80%93-feedback-appreciated/

This texture pack is designed to help people recreate the world of The Wheel of Time books. To better achieve this, quite a few of the blocks and items vary from what they traditionally look like. For example, Netherrack now resembles the Ways. Mushroom biomes will (someday) look like the Blight. Io m including a few quotes here and there, either to explain what I was trying to show...or because the quotes amused me. :)

I know of one group who have already started trying to make the world of WoT. You can find info on them here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/723834-the-wheel-of-time/

And here: http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/the-wheel-of-time/

Let me know if you have a WoT project underway. Io d particularly love some screenshots that I can post here (though I realize thato s going to be hard with all the blocks I haveno t done yet!).

This is very much a work in progress. Io m hoping for some constructive criticism both artistically and from WoT fans with ideas on how to make the pack more accurate/useful.

Io ve got the most common blocks and also some less common blocks o doneo (with quotation marks because theyo re subject to revision when I get feedback, new ideas, or second thoughts). Youo ll notice, though, that many others are not. Io m just using the default ones in place of those.

There are lists saying what I have completed and what I have planned. Many of those entries have notes on them explaining why I have done things a certain way or what my plans are for them. Some have options that I haveno t decided between yet. Io d particularly love feedback on those.

I've added a thread in the Texture Pack section on minecraftforum.net for feedback as well: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1068367-16x-11-wheel-of-time-tailored-texture-pack-very-very-wip-%E2%80%93-feedback-appreciated/

Done(ish) in terrain.png

Bed (ito s in pale golden-tan. I have a prettier dark red version, too, but I thought this would be more versatile - my hope is that it can pass for gold in a palace or tan in a hovel)

Bedrock (ito s the way it is because the comparison amused me. I probably should change it to something more practical, though)

Bricks (also pass for tile roofs, hopefully, such as on the Winespring Inn)

Cactus

Crafting table (has drawers instead of tools dangling off the sides. Io ve seen where that has been done before, and it seemed a nice way to keep it suitable for a crafting table while allowing it to be used as something else, too)

Cloth (all colors. I made pink into a deeper red, as it seemed more likely to be useful. The cloth blocks are meant to pass for tiles as well, so that they can be used as such in the White Tower. Ajah colors will need to remain blank for that to work and black wool should stay blank, too, since obsidian will no longer be black. But Io m thinking of eventually adding patterns to some of the other colors so that they can be used for decorative touches in the architecture. Same goes for the Lapis, Diamond and Gold blocks. I just need to figure what sort of designs. Io d appreciate info on any designs that are specifically mentioned somewhere or suggestions for unmentioned ones that might be useful and/or versatile. Please do leave Graendalo s decorating tastes out if it, though. Weo re not going there)

Cobblestone (regular and mossy)

Dirt

Doors (iron and wood)

Flowers (I kept the roses as red roses, just for Elaida. The others are a pale white something-or-other. My goal was to make them match any color scheme and fit equally well around a castle as a cottage. Io m open to a more specifically WoTish idea for those)

Glass (more like a wrought iron frame. Actually makes for pretty good decorative fences, fireplace screens, supports for Glowstone candelabras, legs on stools, etc. Doesno t work for the Rhuidean column tero angreal, though, so youo ll have to use ice for that)

Glowstone (meant to look like a lantern. Thereo s no reason for glowy things in the Ways, so I thought Io d make it useful in palaces, inns, etc. instead. It matches the glass pretty closely to help keep the architecture consistent. Youo ll notice elements of the same design on the doors, chests, pistons, etc., as well)

Grass (top, side, and tall grass. Could use some help with the side grass; please see the o Feedbacko section. The tall grass has flowers in it because Io m a girl. Deal with it.)

Hatch (has the same texture as smooth stone half-blocks, because I thought that would make it easier to make inconspicuous passageways. I could instead make a version thato s iron-bound wood--similar to the pistono s tops. Let me know what you think)

Ice

Iron bars

Ladder

Leaves (oak and birch)

Logs (oak, birch, and pine. I made birch into a pale tree, but not actually birch. I was thinking of it for Avendesora, though Io m not quite sold on it. I dislike all of them immensely, but thought that Io d just leave them as is for this release. Not sure if Io m going to continue tweaking them, or just start over. : P )

Mushrooms (the small red and brown ones)

Netherrack (and Netherrack bricks. Meant to resemble the Ways)

Pine needles (dono t like them. Think I might just start over. Might do a variation on this texture, though, for the mycelium)

Redstone wires (meant to look like Trolloc graffiti when lit and Ogier script when unlit. Thanks to FuroxMC for the Ogier idea!)

Sand (dono t really like it, but it sort of works for now. Sort of. Almost. *sigh*)

Smooth stone (regular, half-blocks, bricks, cracked bricks, and mossy bricks. Still has a slight repeating pattern, I think, so Io ll probably have to continue tweaking it. Io m just tired of staring at it right now and need to move on for a while)

Soul Sand (I kept faces on it. o Strange oval stones made the fireplace; they looked just like stoneso ¦but when he glimpsed them from the corner of his eye they seemed to be faces insteado ¦screaming silently.o EotW, ch. 14. I wonder if thato s where Notch got the idea for his soulsand texture. Heo s already admitted that the Nether is based on the Ways, so ito s quite possible)

Spawner (I wish I knew what Stasis boxes were supposed to look like... o o On the other hand,o he went on, o think how awful it would have been to open a box and rouse a nest of cafar, say, or a jumara, or one of Aginoro s other little creations.o o LoC, ch. 23)

Sponge

Torch (haveno t actually altered the fire part yet)

Tracks (standard, detector, powered on, and powered off. Theyo re now the pale white stripes used in the Ways to find the Guiding nearest a Waygate. Io m sorry, Mervyn Poel, but it was just the more practical option. Standard are a continuous unbroken line, detector have two breaks, powered on have a long diagonal break, and powered off have a single break)

Wooden boards (not sure if I like them or not)

Done(ish) NOT in terrain.png

Chests (Nooo! Not the box!)

Default skin (a cutesy little novice! Just so you all will change it. I thought about making it a specific character, like Lews Therin, but...not everyone would bother to change and we all know how inconvenient it is to have a bunch of people running around pretending to be the Dragon. And then those who actually would have wanted to use that skin would feel obligated to change it to not blend in. And besides, I have some WoT skins on my Planet Minecraft account that could always use more downloads... ;) )

Foliage color and grass color.

Particles (areno t done at all, except that I erased smoke. Trouble is, smoke uses the same particles as redstone and portals, and neither of them should have particles flying around. So ito s all or nothing, and I picked nothing. I think thato s erase myceliumo s particles, too, unfortunately. Io m not sure what else yet)

Sign

Silverfish (as Mashadar tendrils. Because traditional methods of fighting them are ineffective and also because they remind us to be careful when messing around in old ruins. And theyo re the right shape)

To-Do

All the other blocks (see next section for specific plans)

Armor

GUI (I guess eventually. Ito s about the last thing I plan to do, though, unless I suddenly become overwhelmingly inspired)

Items

Most Mobs (except Silverfish, which are already done. Io ll be posting a section later with specific plans for the rest)

Paintings (started, none are ready for release yet. Io ll be posting a section later with my current plans and a request for your ideas)

Particles

Probably water and lava, someday

Specific plans for blocks & items

Bow and arrows will be gray (silver!)

Diamond block: some sort of decorative pattern?

The Endo s stone: Red polished stone (like the columns around Callandor)

Gold block: Tairen maze pattern

Iron block: usable as a mirror, also as the outside of the Tower of Ghenjei

Lapis Block: some sort of decorative pattern?

Large Red and Brown Mushrooms: sickly trees for the Blight. "Mile by mile the corruption of the Blight became more apparent. Leaves covered the trees in ever greater profusion, stained and spotted yellow and black, with livid red streaks like blood poisoning. Every leaf and creeper seemed bloated, ready to burst at the touch." EotW, ch. 48. "Ooze slid like pus from bark cracked and split." EotW ch. 49.

Music Disks: cuendillar seals! Collect them all! Or else! :D Also, after the necessary number, I think I might make any spares into angreal, sao angreal, or tero angreal like the Bowl of the Winds, the Horn of Valere, Callandor, twisted stone dreamer rings, Binding/Oath Rod, the Choedan Kal, Foxhead Medallion, etc. It seems particularly fitting if theyo re long sought after ones. Naro baha? *snerk*

Mycelium: the ground in the Blight

Nether warts: Would it be too morbid to make them leftover Trollocs? o Gray and pitted like the stone, the huge bodies were half sunken in the swollen, bubbled surface. Some of the bubbles had burst, revealing more snouted faces, forever snarling with fear.o EotW, ch. 45. =O Io m just not sure what else would grow in the Ways like that.

Obsidian: stone with leafy pattern like Waygates.

Redstone torch: fireworks. Thanks to FuroxMC for the idea!

TNT: fireworks. Aludrao s Dragons? Nightflowers?

Stuff I should have an idea for, but don't yet

Cake

Mooshroom

Enchanting stuff (table, ingredients, etc.)

The Endo s portal stuff

Mooshroom

Music player & Noteblocks

Pumpkin

Mooshroom

Snow Golem

Spider (the large kind)

Mooshroom?!?

Feedback, please?

Anything constructive is welcome. But some things that Io m particularly wondering about are...

The smooth stone half-block is only a little paler than the smoothstone block. That makes it less conspicuous when making things (like stairs) that are partly one and partly the other. It also makes it possibly not conspicuous enough when trying to use it as accents in things like patterned tile floors. Which way would it be more useful?

Hatches have the same texture as smooth stone half-blocks, because I thought that would make it easier to make inconspicuous passageways. I could also make a version thato s iron bound wood, sort of like the pistonso tops.

Io ve made most of the metal into wrought iron. Opinions? My plan for the pack was to make red and black sort of the theme colors. Obviously, thereo s only so much in the terrain.png that can be red or black, so this was one way to bring them in.

Anyone know a good way of making grass on the side of blocks blend into all the biomes regardless of whether it is on fancy or fast graphics? I can make it match about two at once, and then all the rest look sad.

Io m planning to add designs to diamond blocks, some of the wool blocks, and lapis blocks so that they can be used as accents. Io d appreciate thoughts on what designs might be most useful/versatile and any reference to designs that are specifically mentioned somewhere in the books.

I cano t find a reference as to what moghedien spiders look like (not the Forsaken, but the creature sheo s named after). Io d like the cave spiders to look like them, though. Anyone have any info on that?

Another creature I have little information on is the adult jumara. We know that their young are living in the Blight and are now known as o wormso . Io ve taken what information Io ve found, though, and after a great deal of thought and study on the matter I have concluded that jumara have a strong resemblance to cows. With mushrooms growing on their backs. Well, what else am I supposed to do with those wretched cattle?!?

Io ve been trying to edit the splasheso the random bit of text that shows up on the title screeno by altering the o Splashes.txto file in the o Titleo folder according to what instructions I have found online. Nothing seems to be happening, though, and everything Io ve found about it dates no later than the Second Age (aka o Betao ). Has something been changed that makes it no longer possible? Or is it just me messing up somewhere? Because Io m really hoping to replace the current ones with more fitting things like o Glory to the builders!o or o Ito s time to roll the dice!o or o May you find water and shade this day!o or o You? No!o

Can I use this for...?

...yeah, I really dono t expect to ever tell someone they cano t use my textures, but I put that in because I want to have the right to if someone starts using it in something I consider offensive or vile. You know, someone makes a version thato s X-rated or a video celebrating genocide or something like that. I just dono t want my hard work (or my reputation) involved in that sort of thing. So as long as you are being a decent person, dono t expect any problems from me. If youo re concerned, just clear it with me ahead of time.

You know, the Nether was actually inspired by the Ways; Notch is an avid reader of the Wheel of Time.

Good luck on the project! I haven't played Minecraft since the Trolloc Wars, and am considering making a Farscape skin some time.

I actually had heard that. Now my brother and I like to call portals 'Waygates' for that very reason. :) Oh, and we say 'Traveling', not 'teleporting' :D

Glad to hear you found your way back to Minecraft. I'm afraid I know little about Farscape, but...have fun! :)

Well! This should be interesting...

Feel free to use my Trolloc skin as a mob, if necessary. The Myrddraal is yours to use as well, as a placeholder; I think I should fix it up some more, but not any time soon.
