The Seasons in this pack are biome-based, which means that all 4 seasons will appear in every world (kind of like how in the original game seasons are also location-based, rather than time-based). However, the biome colours (as well as other textures like water, lava, etc.) don't change automatically when changing your texture pack, which is why you'll need to download and use the MCPatcher HD Fix to make them work.
Enjoy!

Version 2.0 : 09/14/2012 7:13:20 am9/14/12
Hi everybody!
This is basically just an update to make sure everything's up to date with 1.3 and beyond. I haven't had much time to try everything, but I think most stuff is up to date now. There are also some minor changes, here's a list:
- Pumpkins have a new texture to make it look more like the Pumpkin Head boss
- Textures for Carrots, Potatoes, Pumpkin Pie, Nether Stars, Emeralds, Rubies and so on.
- Also textures for blocks like Emerald Blocks, Emerald Ore, Command Block, Beacon, etc.
- New Menu designs, most notably for the creative menu, which is now rather woody.
- Wither and his Skeletons now have a texture based on the Shadow Nightmares
- Other changes.

Version 2.-1 : 04/26/2012 6:31:23 pm4/26/12
What naming conventions?
So yeah, I'm working on redoing almost everything worth redoing, which usually means I get to ++ the main version number. But since we're probably only half-way there, 2.0 seemed hardly fitting...
So what's new? Here's a handy little list which should be able to answer that question:
- Biomes, as you may or may not know, the entire backend has been updated (or, if you'd ask me, "downgraded"), which meant I had to find a new distribution. Since every biome now has a single colour, and there's only a few foresty biomes, I've decided to use both Jungle and Swamp as seasonal biomes. Here's a list:
- Summer: Jungle, Ocean and Mountains
- Autumn: Forest and Desert,
- Winter: Taiga and Tundra
- Spring: Swamp and Plains
This distribution seems to be the best one so far, with high encounter rates for every seasons and all of them having at least 1 area with a decent amount of trees. Swamps do look a bit too happy now, but think of them as pleasant gardens, with the greener water caused by those nasty pollen or something.
I've also changed the colours a bit, so everything's a bit brighter and happier now.
- Pines and Birches now have their own biome-based leaf colours, and about time too.
- All Leaves textures and the Tall Grass texture have been edited to add some more contrast, Pine leaves also got an updated texture for fancy graphics.
- New Sand texture, based on the desert sand, because the sand texture I had been using wasn't actually as prominent as I once thought.
- Dirt is less yellow now, apparently I had been using the dirt from an animal compagnion area, which for some bizzare reason is quite yellow.
- Animated Torches (although I'm still working on those) and some other animated surprises.
- other surprises
I tried randomising the grass block surface so it would seem less dense (like in the game), but it didn't really have the desired effect. I also tried making things like sand and sandstone change colour based on the biome, but this also proved to be a bit of a failure. If all of this had worked this would've been a slightly more impressive update.

I'm usually one of those people who checks and double-checks every rule before ever posting anything, so this pack being illegal would surprise me. I just went and checked the rules again and can't seem to find anything about using copyrighted material. Am I missing something?
Having a rule like this in place would seem rather odd as well. Non-profit fan-made derivative works don't tend to be the cause of any legal issues, as this would entail a staggeringly high and very prohibitive cost on top of the negative publicity, which would probably more than offset any possible positive gains from such a lawsuit. I'm sure fan works are covered under quite a few fair use legislations as well, although my knowledge of copyright law isn't quite extensive enough to claim this with any degree of certainty.
That being said, I can't say everything here is an original creation, although most textures have been recoloured or in some way altered to better suit the Minecraft environment.
I must say I'm quite surprised, this is by no means the only Legend of Zelda based texture pack (or the most popular) and most of those feature at least some textures or images taken straight from one or more copyrighted games. I can't help but think a policy like this would only end up hurting this site in the long run, especially considering the popularity of the various video game based texture packs.
I don't receive any monetary compensation for this texture pack, the sole reason it's here is because I'd feel rather selfish using it exclusively for personal use. If you want to take it down, so be it, but I'm trying and failing to come up with anyone who could possibly benefit from this.

I can't imagine Skyrim textures being a terribly noticeable thing to turn into a texture pack, but considering recent events I don't blame you for being cautious around Bethesda.
If it's any help, I doubt "minimal effort" would apply here, since it's a 100% completed pack with quite a few custom or altered sprites. I've wasted quite a few hours of my life creating this pack (quite possibly more than I've actually spent playing Minecraft since creating this pack) and I've been working on this pack on and off since Beta 1.3 (I think), so It's hardly a quick and easy copy-paste job.
I'm not as familiar with the DMCA and other copyright legislations as I should be, but aren't sites which host public content considered "safe havens", where it's impossible to sue the host of a free public forum for content uploaded by its users (e.g. Youtube), forcing copyright holders to file a lawsuit against the content creator and not the public host?
I also think you might be failing to make the distinction between using copyrighted material for other purposes (e.g. using textures from Zelda in Minecraft) and uploading content created by someone else and in a way stealing the credit and recognition the original creator deserves (e.g. downloading a texture pack and reuploading it).
Concerning this, I would urge you to update the rules if copyrighted materials presumably being used under fair use really are forbidden, as the closest rule I've been able to find is "Do not upload Texture packs that someone else created", which seems more like a rule against reuploading existing texture packs.
I'm probably wasting far too much time defending this texture pack, since not having to update both this and the Minecraft forums thread would probably give me a bit more free time at the small cost of not getting as much constructive criticism. But if this rule does come to pass It would mean the loss of quite a few very decent texture packs, which would be a shame for those who aren't as capable of creating their own texture packs.
Again, do as you please. I am but a guest, but it would be nice to stick around, I quite like it here.

The minimal effort thing wasn't directed at this pack - I can tell you've spent a lot of time on it, and that's why it wasn't deleted right away.
There's been a lot of controversy over what is "fair use" and what isn't, really. Down to its basic component there isn't much different from using textures from other texture packs compared to using textures from other games - the only difference, like I said, is they belong to other members of the Minecraft community. We would much rather be proactive as a team and take the initiative to prevent infringement than to simply let it all get uploaded and wait for the owners to send us DMCA takedowns and all sorts of legal issues (which does happen quite a bit - a lot of sites steal our content).
This site strives on original content, and that's what we like to see. This pack is original in its own in that it does have a lot of its own unique content & personal touches to it, so I don't think your pack is at any sort of risk at this point. What we're mostly trying to root out and stop are the who steal textures from other games simply to gain experience.

I can certainly empathise with your arguments and actions (I'm no stranger to moderating a substantial community), but you might be acting perhaps a bit too restrictive and risk-averse. Although for packs which do solely use textures ripped directly from a specific source I can understand taking action. Especially if people really are as obsessed with diamonds as they seem to be around here.
As an aside, apparently I've had this pack here for over 3 weeks already, I'm quite surprised it took this long for this discussion to take place. Has this recently been decided or am I only now attracting any kind of attention?
It's getting late, and I've probably been neglecting the paper I'm working on a bit too much by constantly checking for updates here, so this is probably my last reply for a while. Take care,

As for the attention; it was just now that it was brought up. I had purged an account of tiny texture packs that used ripped content from a game (mind you he was also breaking a few other rules), and one of the other moderators brought this submission up, so I thought I'd ask about it.

From what I could tell he does use textures directly from a specific LoZ game, so the "make up" isn't different, in some cases it's exactly the same, but I think it covers fair use in this case.

Winter grass is sort of grey in the original games, BTW. I'm working on what might end up being the 2.0 for this pack, though, which has more faithful season colours and gives them a new distribution (where, say, it still only snows in winter, but at least you'll get autumn forests as well). More on that soon, hopefully.

I'm quite obsessed with the glitches in the original Pokemon games, so in a moment of boredom I decided to build myself a Missingno. It came in quite handy for screenshots for my Pokemon Red and Blue Pack as well (which I'm in the process of updating).

The way it is now is more faithful to games as well, which I guess is sort of the point of this pack.
I've been managing without a grid for quite a while now, so I don't think it's that big an issue anyway, but thanks for the suggestion.
