Always thought that upgrading something should always have multiple alternatives?
Well, i completely agree!
This is why this datapack adds Corrupted Diamond items, an upgrade to them that you can choose alternatively to netherite!

Corrupted Diamonds:
Corrupted Diamonds are, well... the corrupted form of diamonds which can be found in ancient cities' chests!

(Getting such a large amount of them in one singular chest is, of course, very rare)

They are used to upgrade diamond items to their corrupted form which you can do by surrounding them with 4 corrupted diamonds in a regular crafting table, just like this:

(Clicking on the knowledge book will give you the item)

Other Items:

Corrupted Diamond Sword:
The Corrupted Diamond Sword deals just as much damage as a normal diamond sword but has an special ability:
Sonic Boom!
This ability allows you to cast a weaker variant of the warden's sonic boom attack dealing damage to everything that it hits at the cost of 250 experience points!
Holding this sword will also disable your offhand slot till you select another reason to make the right click ability work and for overall balancing


Corrupted Diamond Pickaxe:
Using the Corrupted Diamond Pickaxe to mine blocks has a chance to infest and breaknearby stone-type blocks!





Corrupted Diamond Axe:
Hitting mobs with this Axe might call the warden and cause it to pull a nearby mob in the ground by one block and, therefore, slow it down!
(Doesn't work on players)


Corrupted Diamond Shovel
Breaking blocks with this shovel has the chance to reward you with sculk related items!




Corrupted Diamond Hoe
The ability of the Corrupted Diamond Hoe causes you to gain xp when harvesting crops.
The amount of xp you gain may vary


Now, probably the most interesting part of the pack:
Corrupted Diamond Armor:
If you use Corrupted Diamond Armor for the first time, you might notice that it is extremely fragile and only has about the same durability as leather armor despite having the same stats as regular diamond armor...
This can have several causes: either you are not wearing a full set of the armor or you are wearing the full set but are below xp level 100!
That is because the armor, while being, as already said, extremely fragile while below xp level 100 will become unbreakable at any level higher or equal to 100!
Additionally to that, having an xp level of 250 or above will also grant you Resistance I and Strenght I!
You are wondering where the armor is taking this power from?
Well, it's quite easy! From your xp bar, that's why it is draining 20 xp/s from you while wearing the full set, even if you are not level 100 or above!



Upgrading Corrupted Items To Netherite:
It's quite easy to do that:
You don't!

Trying to combine corrupted items with netherite will cause the sculk to react with the netherite and the item to explode in a cloud of xp, gold and some netherite scraps!

Advancements:
The pack adds 5 new Advancements to the game, all of them can be found in the "Adventure Tab" after achieving "It Spreads!"


Cheating in Items:
You can cheat in any item added in this datapack using "/funciton corrupted:give/<item_name>" if you are operator!
