btuylCould you do us all a favor and FIX your website, I'm getting tired of trying to get on here just to sit and wait for it to tell me it can't connect to the website or try looking at something on the website just to see it has gone down because there is to much traffic.
This probably will take forever to get up because of your website not being able to handle all the traffic.

Hint hint: the reason it's doing this today is because we're in the process of doing exactly that. A little bit of patience/understanding wouldn't hurt.

In a nutshell I think the process would essentially be the same, except after someone submits something, it doesn't go up until a submission moderator can have a look over it and give it the thumbs up...that would de-rail most of the submissions that would be taken down anyways. If something is rejected with a reason, the user can fix it and try to re-submit it again. Another mod could see that it was initially disapproved, the reason why, and if it has been fixed.

    Is just a thought though

We actually debated about this very idea some time ago, but other things to do on PMC have taken priority, so it's not likely that we will try and implement a system like this one soon. We didn't abandon the idea though, so stay tuned.

Also, it's very hard to have a meeting with the whole moderation team, since some of us reside in Europe, NZ, Australia, or even Russia. Dem timezones, man.

As several mods mentioned before, this is one of the only threads about PMC moderation that didn't turn into a flame war after the second post. So yeah, let's keep it that way

As long as there are people's lives to ruin, there will be "trolls", unfortunately.

Do I smell a derailing thread? Sounds like it! Keep on topic, don't flame/throw unneeded accusations or prejudices, and I won't lock this thread. Thanks!

Another thing that might encourage rule-breakers on PMC: the XP system. I find it very nice as an incentive for people to make good content, and making PMC a fun "game", so to speak, but a lot of users seem to think that "winning" a game is better than "enjoying" it. So they try and find any loopholes to earn the most XP just to brag about how much better than other people they are.

Even though enjoying yourself is so much better and rewarding than getting more virtual points on a videogame fansite.

You have to take several things into account, for example:

    - What could be a theme that would make lots of people participate in the contest, and a theme that will allow creativity and original builds/skins/blogs (that rules out re-doing old contests).

    - How long the contest would take (basically, we're doing month-long contests, so a TP contest is out of question, because it would take far longer to get quality submissions).

    - Judges recruitment: how many we need, how long they'd take to judge (this rules out "story" contests, because we can't ask judges to read 1000+ stories in the span of one or two weeks).

    - The backstory/specific rules.

Etc, etc. Bottom line is, organizing a contest takes time, time that we often don't have, due to having lives and dealing with PMC reports at the same time. To answer your question directly, no it isn't hard to think about a contest, but sitting around and actually doing the thing is very time-consuming.

This thread is getting ridiculous, provided it wasn't from the start. Locked. Please get a degree in a particular field of science before trying to answer questions about that field. For the rest, use google.

As with skin contests, you must make original builds, therefore, we won't accept replicas of existing ships. The contests are not only about building skills, but also about creativity .

Sure, you can be inspired by the various sci-fi universes that exist, (e.g. you won't be DQ'd if your ship has solar panels that look a bit like TIE-fighter's) but at the end of the line, you'll have to design your build yourself.

Hoping it clears out the misunderstandings

If the tutorials themselves don't break the rules or explicitely tell people to break them, they can stay.

However, I think the team would REALLY appreciate if people who post these tutorials added a little "do not upload skins made with this tutorial on PMC, as it breaks the rules" line at the end of them...

Modpacks are not your creation. Ok, you took some time to combine the mods, but did you write the lines of code of the mods you packed? No. Even if you credit the creators, it's still theft. I don't know what is SO HARD to understand about that.
