The sprinting glitch occurs when the server needs to register your sprint. Originally, you start to sprint and the server would okay it after you started the process. Now, the server has to register the sprint before you actually begin to perform this action. Dinnerbone and Team Mojang will patch this bug in a near future update. Hopefully, it will be patched relatively soon, but all we can do is wait.
