So over the past few weeks Mojang have been teasing about the 1.8 update release dates and they are currently in the process of fixing alot of the bugs involved with the update. So I would love to know your thoughts on when it may come out as some people do not believe it will ever be released.
Some info below on what will be added in 1.8.

-1.8 pre-release 3, this should be the last one before 1.8. 

-Coarse dirt, found in Mesa and savannah biomes normal dirt over time will change to coarse it is crafted by putting 2x2 dirt in a crafting table and in result gives you 4 coarse dirt. If you hoe coarse dirt you will get back normal dirt.

-Potion of leaping, allows the player to jump higher it has a I and a II level. It is brewed with a rabbit foot. The bubble particle effect are light green.

-Potion of water breathing, as the suggests you can swim underwater without losing oxygen and your visibility is increased. Brewed using a pufferfish.

-Mutton, yep sheep now drop raw mutton which can be cooked and will restore 6 hunger.

-Wet sponge and sponge. Wet sponge obtained rarely from guardians in the ocean momument. It can be dried by smelting it.

-Iron trapdoor is what it seems crafted the same as a normal wood trapdoor, it acts like a iron door and requires a redstone signal, level, button etc to be opened.

-New Achivement, Overpowered, you obtain this from crafting a enchanted golden apple.

-Red sandstone is the same as normal sandstone crafted the same etc but with red sand found in the mesa biome, you can also craft stairs, slabs, chiseled, etc using.

-Coloured beacons are the normal beacon with coloured glass on top which produces a colour dependent on the glass above the beacon.

-Armours stands are what the name suggests they hold your armour you right click to put on and off the armour and it also has the effects of gravity like anvils.

-Iron golems now attack creepers.

-Rabbit, 8 types including the killer rabbit of Caerbannog. Rabbits also drop rabbit hide, raw rabbit (which can be cooked into cooked rabbit), Rabbit foot, rabbit stew can be crafted with cooked rabbit, for more info click the link; http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Rabbit

-New mob Guardian, which spawns in the ocean momument, a under water dungeon which is built with these new blocks; Prismarine, Prismarine Bricks, Dark Prismarine and sea lanterns. -Depth Strider a new enchanment which allows the player the walk/swim faster in water. Goes up to III and can only be applied to boots only.

-The barrier block is a invisible block that cannot be passed, it is also only obtainable in creative this will probably be a great help to adventure map makers. For more info, http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Barrier

-The new doors and fences include, spruce, birch, acacia, jungle and dark oak you craft them as you would normally but with wood of choice and you will get in return either a diffrent coloured wood the same colour as you crafted it with or with doors there are diffrent types of doors for each wood for more info visit this page; http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Doors

-Spectator mode, as the name sugest spectator mode will be added it is a mode of which you cannot do anything you just fly around and cannot do anything, to get into this gamemode use /gamemode spectator or /gamemode 3. For more info visit ;

-Villager trading, villager trading will be made alot more fair instead of trading 10 emeralds for 3 flint, villager trading will also give xp, there is also some more villager professions;
•Librarian (Buys stacked written books, offers different enchanted books)
•Cleric (Sells redstone and lapis, buys ender pearls and rotten flesh
•Fisherman (Buys string, coal, cooks normal fish, sells enchanted fishing rods)
•Farmer (Buys melon blocks, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, sells cake and pumpkin pie)
•Fletcher (Buys string, sells bows, converts 10 gravel into 10 flint)
•Shepherd (Sells colored wool)
•Leatherworker (Buys leather, sells leather armor and enchanted leather armor)
• Armorer (Sells enchanted diamond armor, iron armor, chain armor)
• Tool Smith (Sells enchanted iron shovel/pick and enchanted diamond pick)
• Weapon Smith (Sells enchanted iron and diamond sword, enchanted iron and diamond axe)

-Slime block is a block made out of 9 slimeballs the block acts as a trampoline whilst killing a fall, slime blocks have already been used to make alot of cool redstone creations.

-3 new stones, their is 3 new stones which include, granite, diorite and andesite. They spawn commonly around regular stone and can made into a polished version by placing them in a 2x2 shape in a crafting grid.

-Difficulty looks, as the name suggest you can now lock your gamemode to a certain one so it can no longer be changed.

-Lockable chests as of 1.8 you will be able to lock chests to do so stand on top of your chest of choice type /blockdata ~ ~-1 ~ {Lock:"keyname"} keyname is the password change it to a password of choice then name a item the password and you can then only open the chest with that named item.
-You will now be able to craft chiseled stone bricks, mossy stone bricks. mossy bricks are crafted with one stone brick and 1 vine in a crafting table and chiseled is crafted with two stone slabs ontop of each other.

-Doors are now able to stack up to 64 and when crafted will give 3 instead of one.
