I hoped that the hero could hang on to his life. From what I could tell, he was dying, and I was about to lose hope for him. I saw it: a small, nearly-destroyed village, with one young girl operating it. I quickly made myself as human as I could look, and walked in. I did not say much, and dropped off Drakonith with her. She nodded and went into a house to take care of him. Then, I took off, hoping to thwart Nako for the time being.

-Back to Drakonith’s Narration-

I groaned as I awoke inside a small and simple hut. Its wood was reddish, and the curved roof was supported by two beams. I saw myself laying in a bed, and suddenly, everything came back to me: the dark double, my friends, and Nako. I tried to get up, but cried out in pain. It hurt so much just to try to get up! Then, I saw him: a figure, cloaked in a billowing brown cloak. He walked up, and said this:

“I see you are in pain.”

I was so mad. He knew I was in pain! But yet he still asked.

“Obviously.”

“The sword does not inhabit you without bravery.” “You should not just rely on the blade to fight your enemies: you must be able to defend yourself, and master the magic powers you have.”

I remembered it. The magic I could use! I was so caught up in the sword I totally forgot about my magic! I don’t have any clue why I said this, but I did:

“Can you teach me how to use my magic and my sword?”

He seemed to think for several moments, and the said,

“I will, once you are healthy again.”

I nodded, and when I looked back where he was, he was gone.

Then, the girl came in. She had dark hair, was white, and looked almost depressed.

“Hope you’re making a recovery,” she said.

I grumbled in response.

“Well, when you are well again, please leave my village.”

I nodded and continued resting. It was crazy, considering everything that had happened. I was nearly dead, but now I am recovering. My crush was literally wandering the dark realm. What’s next?

I woke up, and it was dark out. I tried getting up again, and to my surprise, I got up without a problem. I put on the shirt outside, grabbed the Glow Sword and its sheath. I hobbled outside, and saw the girl, in front of at least 40 graves.

“Why are there all these graves,” I said in a low voice.

She looked around, probably startled, and saw me, then relaxed.

“These…” “These were the people from my village.”

And then, she told her story.

“About a month ago, I was living a normal life here, with my brother and my friends. Then, all of a sudden, a group of monsters came by, and attacked the village. The villagers knew how to fight, though. So they charged in, and attacked the monsters with everything they had. But, alas, they were no match for these tough monsters. The monsters slaughtered everyone they saw, and left no survivors. At least, that’s what they thought. I was hiding in a bush, and they went past me. They killed everyone. Didn’t matter if they were old men or children. They just destroyed everything. And when I peaked out of the bush, they were gone. But, I remember it: the bodies. So many human bodies, and a couple monster bodies were there. I buried the humans’ bodies, and burned the monsters’ bodies. Then, I cried my heart out. But I was strong. I pushed on, and here I am.”

I was shocked by this. No wonder the poor girl always looked so sad!

“Well,” I said, “I have to go now.” “If you’re ever lonely, just find a village and start a new life there.

“Ok,” She said. “Also, I have a horse ready for you so you can go back to where you were.”

I rode into the sunset, wondering what was going to happen next.
