Don't Post -"Join my server! Its the best ever! " <--- yeah...dude, seriously? You actually waste your time posting this every 16 minutes? Its no wonder your server is empty!!
Do post -" Factions! PVP! Kits! Mob Arena! Join us now, and enter the war! " <--- this is a little bit better, this is the kind of things a server will post when they already have members playing. People in the chat will think, woo that sounds fun and join, expecting there to be players and factions already there.
Don't Post -" New factions server! Needs players and staff! Please join!" <--- WRONG..... one, now ur server is going to be raided by the oh so annoying "Can I be staff?" crowd. Also, the crowd of experienced factions players that you should be trying to attract will not want to join your new and desperate server. They will think, dang this guy is begging, must be dead in there.
Do Post - "Factions server, New fresh map! Mob arenas and economy! Join and conquer this untamed world! Want to be staff? Join and follow the instructions on how to apply " <--- make it difficult for people to be staff, apply via a website, it will sift through thelazy 10 year olds who just want special ranks. Don't beg for players, make sure you say its new, so they know, but make it attractive by emphasizing the fact that the map is clean. If you really want players, you could even offer the first five players to joina few diamonds or a free TP to the cords of their choice.
Do you see what Im getting at? Theres so many ways to say it that make it seem so much better. Theres nothing wrong with being a new server that doesn't have a player base yet, but there is something wrong with advertising like a normal server. Because then people think theyre goin to join a nice filled server, and what do they find? Theres 3 people online, and then they leave and don't come back.
False advertising is the worst possible way to get things going, remember that. I'll be posting about this often from now on, since I spend most of my time in the server room here on PMC, subscribe for your helpful advertising tips :P They will most likely come in handy to the unexperienced
