Welcome to another blog!

Today I'm going to show you the in's and out's of MCPVP's Sabotage Minigame!

IP: mc-sabotage.com

Basics Of Sabotage

Sabotage is a refined version of Trouble In Mineville, which is a Minecraft version of Trouble In Terrorrist Town. At the beginning of the game, there is a 30 second invincibility mark, where you look for chests which wield items. After the 30 seconds, you are randomly organized into 3 groups. The innocent, the saboteur, and the detective (we'll get to groups later). If you follow the specific objective given to you in your group, you can get karma, which can be spent on items.

KARMA IS YOUR EXP BAR!

Important Terms Before We Start:

Call innocents "inno", saboteurs "sab", and detective "det". It saves time, which is beneficial.

RDM'ing is when a player starts attacking you without notice. These RDM'ers could be innocent or detective, so don't kill them right away.

Basically, there are three groups.

Innocents:

Objective:

Find out who the traitors are without being killed

Features:

- Do not know who the Saboteurs are, but they do know who the detective is.

- The majority of the population (78% on average)

- Lose 50 karma for killing another innocent

- Lose 75 karma for killing the detective

- Gain 40 karma for killing a saboteur

- Gain 40 karma after winning a game

- Start with a magnifier, which can show who has killed someone

- Do not lose karma when killed

Tips:

- Explore around and look for hiding spots after you find a good weapon. If you find a good spot, and have patience, the saboteurs will quit while looking for you.

- Don't kill anyone unless you have proof that they're saboteur. Even if they killed someone, that doesn't mean their sab. You save karma this way.

- If innocents are RDM'ing you, you don't know if they're innocents. If you are a super karma saver, let them kill you. If you are ok with losing karma, fight back.

- If the detective is RDM'ing you, you know that he's the detective. Let him kill you, because if you fight back, you might win and lose karma, and then the other innocents will think that you are saboteur.

- There are a lot of innocent's, so don't RDM. There is a very likely chance that the person is innocent, if you pick randomly.

- If you do not find any good weapons of potions, leave the game. You will not be able to kill anyone, and you will not gain any karma. This saves time for you.

Saboteurs:

Objective:

Kill all of the innocents and the detective without being spotted

Features:

- The saboteurs know who everyone is, even the other saboteurs

- 16% (on average) of the population
- Gain 25 karma for killing an innocent

- Gain 75 karma for killing the detective

- Gain 40 karma after winning a game

- Lose 75 karma for killing another saboteur

- Start with a magnifier

- Lose 20 karma when killed

Tips:

- Wait for other saboteurs to mellow the population before going for the kill. This will insure that you can stay in the game longer, as it is not as easy to recognize you when there is no one around.

- Stick with the other innocents, and then kill them after the population mellows out. This will make the innocents trust you.

- Use /msg to communicate with other saboteurs. This way you can plan to kill a large group of innocents without being as vulnerable.

- Go for the detective once the population mellows. This gets you lots of karma.

- If an innocent starts RDM'ing you, run and yell "<innocent's name> is sab!" If you have enough time, add an "He's killing me". This will make the others think that the guy killing you is a saboteur, and you have proof because you have a magnifier. If there is no one around to see it, fight back.

- If the detective starts RDM'ing you when there are innocents around, run. Innocents lose karma for killing the detective, so they will assume you are a saboteur if you kill the detective.

- In any other case of RDM'ers, fight back. There is nothing to lose, unless you have a bad weapon or are facing a large group.

Detective:

Objective:

Find out who the saboteurs are and kill them. Pretty much the same as the innocents.

Features:

- The detective only knows his own class.

- There is only 1 detective per game.

- Starts with Forceps, a pair of Shears. We'll get to these later.

- Lose 75 karma for killing an innocent

- Gain 50 karma for killing a saboteur

- Gain 80 karma for winning the game

- Lose no karma after death

Tips:

- There will be a lot of people following you, (maybe or maybe not) saying "Let me protect you". This is often a trap, even though most of the time, an innocent wants to protect you. In this posse, there is likely a sab, so try to ditch the group.

- Find a hiding place, sneak, and wait. If you have a good enough weapon, endure the fighting. Being detective is a rare opportunity, and you have a chance to get a lot of karma. Don't waste it.

- If there is someone that you know is innocent, add then to your group. You want all the help you can get.

- A bow is the deadliest weapon to a detective. Saboteurs can shoot arrows so you fall off into lava or the void.

- A speed potion is probably the second deadliest weapon to a detective. If a saboteur is chasing you, he will have no problem killing you.

- If you see someone with their bow drawn back, aiming toward you, this person is either a saboteur, or an RDM'er. Everyone hates RDM'ers, so run from him.

- If you are alone, and suddenly someone is running after you, don't trust them. This person could be an innocent, or a saboteur.

- If someone offers you a sword, take it, but don't trust the person who gave it to you. This person probably has a sword with higher or the same power as yours.

Explaining The Magnifier and Forceps:

Magnifier:

The magnifier is given to innocents and saboteurs at the beginning of the game.

When you right click someone, you will get 1 of many messages.

- It seems like there are no blood or cuts - This person is probably safe, he has never killed anyone is this game.

- There are a few dry blood stains - This person maybe took some fall damage or hit someone a few times, but it was a while ago. This person is a suspect, but probably safe.

- There are fresh blood stains - Same as "There are a few dry blood stains", except the damage happened more recently. Suspicious.

- There is so much blood, I bet they killed someone - This person killed someone a while ago. Definitely dangerous. Stay away.

- Did this person kill someone right now? - They just killed someone. Either an RDM'er, a sab, or an inno who killed a sab. If they try to attack you, fight back. They are a sab.

Forceps:

The forceps are given to the detective at the beginning of the game.

Right click on dead bodies, and stand still for a moment, to determine if the dead player was innocent, or saboteur.

Uses:

- If someone just killed someone else, check the body. If the body is innocent, the killer is suspicious, but might not be a saboteur. The dead person might be an RDM'er, and the killer was defending himself. The dead person might be an innocent, but the killer might have been an RDM'er. Of the body is a saboteur, the killer is innocent. Tell others that he is innocent so they don't kill him when they see he killed someone with their magnifiers. Add him to your help posse.

- You get a book documenting the results of the scan. If someone missed the broadcasted chat message that said the results, and they demand answers, give them the book. The person who demanded answers is probably a n00b, because he doesn't know how to scroll through chat.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, there is more coming soon.
