Hello all, Greytopher here with another topic I'd like to talk about: denying criticism when you ask for it. Nothing is more annoying then someone asking for help, recieving it, then bashing on you about how you reportedly 'bashed on them'.

So... you want help, or not?
Noobs. We're all one at some point, but when you're the Admin/member helping that one noob, it has GOT to be frustrating. But, when someone asks for a rating for their build (on creative servers), and you give them your wonderful building advice on how they could improve all they do is stare, rage, then leave. Not taking any advice you've given them, they've only got desperate needs, disappointment, or a firey rage of hate.
"Nao gray, hao com u dint prmte meh?" Well for starters, fix your grammar. It's hideous. Secondly, you've got to take the advice that's given to you! It's there for a reason, and use it to your advantage! I will explain some of this later, on how to give advice, and how you should respond with recieving it.
"bu bu bu..." I don't want to hear it! *looks away* All I want to see is you improving, and you becoming a better builder is my priority (I will include a blog later on how to make basic houses!). If you complain, I won't bother to help, only ignore you until the following day. Take the advice given to you, or you'll never improve.
Giving Advice - What to do
When giving advice to another player, there are certain guidlines you need to follow in order for them to understand your concept. Firstly, you've got to explain in detail! Saying things like "It needs work" then leaving, doesn't leave them any better since they've started. Saying things like "It needs some work, use more block variation. Logs go well with planks, so you could use those." Explaining what they could do always works, since it gives them ideas on what they could improve.
DON'T tell them they've done a good job, when you know they haven't. Telling them lies about how good they are is just in morale ways is wrong, and leaves them worse then before, thinking they've improved. I'm urging those who are moderators/admins to help players build (if on creative servers), since it's really the whole other aspect to the game.
Ignoring the situation doesn't help you or the player, either. The more you ignore the player asking for help, the more of a noob you look, and the more mad a player gets. You don't know the player, and you don't need to start flaming with him. The best you can do is give a quick look at what that player has to offer and who knows, maybe that person has the best build you've seen in a long time; or the best build you've ever seen.
Receiving Advice - What NOT to do
If you're asking for help, you better expect the worst. I know (from experience) that if you ask, and the person's hard on you but gives you advice on what to do, DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALLY! That's the last thing you want to do. If you take it personally, it will be harder to develop social skills to talk to people and (like I've said multiple times) receiving advice.
Being patient with the person who 'reviews' what you've made is key! The longer you wait, and the more flexible you are with that moderator/admin, they'll ease into reviewing your build. They won't be as tense as they will when they see someone screaming in chat "HEY ADMIN PLZ RATE MY BUILD!!!". It's more frustrating to see that in chat then anything else, so please, being patient and asking nicely can do wonders.
Lastly, when you receive advice, TAKE IT! I can't tell you how many times I've gotten building advice, and I went from making cities out of two block materials to making very detailed homes and cathedrals and making terraformed islands. I want you to improve, and the more advice you get from someone on how to make it look better, the better of a builder you will become. Trust me, I've grown as a builder SO MUCH over the past year and 9 months; it's really cool to see someone, especially yourself, improve.
