A viral infection (E-209) has been quickly spreading among the people, and no matter what medical treatments applied by hand or machine do absolutely nothing.

Survivors are rare, but they survived for a reason. Their bodies were immune to the Intellectual Change. Instead of becoming infected, the survivors gained super-human powers all of variety.

A few of the immunes figured out a way to trap the source of the infection, a parasitic plant, mind controlling every human for food supply. In order to stop the spread and overall control, the people had to force the plant into the sky elevator.

They forced it up, put it was too heavy, the few survivors had to hold it up just enough so the entrance would be concealed from the creature.

One of them with enhanced strength, told his allies to get out from under, so they could live for another day. He stood there for so long holding the plant up. His body turned to stone, and whatever was human of him had faded away.

The plant lost all food source and died, freeing everyone from permanent control.
