Avalon adds typical additions and rather atypical ones that mesh together to form a new in-game material that is incredibly useful for Survival and Creative worlds, as well as Adventure maps.

So leto s start at the beginning then:

There are two primary items that spawn in the world from the start and that is Avalonium Ore and Unrefined Avalon. The Avalonium Ore is found deep below the surface and even when it is found, can only be mined with a Diamond Pickaxe or greater. Unrefined Avalon is a liquid, also found deep below the surface, in small 1x1x1 pools. It can only be collected by creating a Diamond Bucket and it cannot be placed (at least not in Survival mode).

To craft a Diamond Bucket, you follow the same recipe as a regular Bucket. A Diamond Bucket (when holding Water of Lava) counts as 5 buckets worth for 1 collected source block. You can enchant a Diamond Bucket by surrounding it with 8 Blocks of Gold. An Enchanted Diamond Bucket counts as 5 buckets worth for 1 collected source block of Avalon (Unrefined/Refined) and infinite for 1 collected source block of either Water or Lava. [Note: an Enchanted Diamond Bucket filled with Water or Lava cannot be emptied.]

Now, in order to smelt Avalonium Ingots, you need to place the ore in a furnace with a bucket of Unrefined Avalon as the fuel. No other fuel will work to smelt Avalonium Ingots. After 5 ingots have been smelted, you will have a bucket of Refined Avalon (this cannot be used for smelting either; if it was in an Enchanted Diamond Bucket, it will take 25 smelted ingots before you receive a bucket of Refined Avalon worth 5 buckets).

To recap:

- need a Diamond Pickaxe or better to mine Avalonium Ore

- need a 3 Diamonds to make a Diamond Bucket

- need a Diamond Bucket to collect Unrefined Avalon

- can enchant a Diamond Bucket to hold more per bucket and to have an infinite source of Water or Lava

- Avalonium Ore + Unrefined Avalon = Avalonium Ingots & Refined Avalon

Avalonium Ingots can be used to make the expected stuff (armor, weapon, tools) all of which last longer than and are more effective than diamond, of course. With the armor set, however, you will not take fall damage while wearing the whole set.

The more important things that can be made with Avalonium Ore are an Avalon Piston, Mana Device, and Mana Device Bot. I will return to these three items to explain them shortly.

Refined Avalon can be used with a Diamond to create a stack of 64 Mana Crystals or a Gold Ingot to create a stack of 32 Mana Crystals, which can then be crafted into Mana Cubes (2x2 Mana Crystals). Mana Crystals/Cubes are used to fuel spells and mana devices as well as to create them and the spell book.

Mana Crystals surrounding a Book will create a Spell Book. By adding items to it via crafting (such as bones, TNT, etc.) you unlock various spells contained in that Spell Book. You can change the name of the Spell Book for convenience. Mana Crystals can then be used on certain spells to increase their power and effectiveness. When using spells youo ll need Mana Crystals and not Mana Cubes.

Mana Cubes are used to power Mana Devices, which are made by placing a Mana Crystal inside a square of Avalonium Ingots. By placing a Spell Book in a Mana Device you can select certain spells to operate in certain ways. Hereo s two examples:

- Select a o Summon Creepero spell and set it to respond to player distance instead of redstone signal or automatic to create a Creeper Spawner.

- Select a o Detonate TNTo spell and set it to respond to a redstone signal to create a trap for a player.

A Mana Device can also be made into a Mana Device Bot, which is different from a Mana Device in that it is not just a stationary object. It is unaffected by Lava and Water and cannot be blown up by explosions, harmed by NPCo s, or take fall damage. It can only be dismantled by a player. It can be programmed to do more than just cast spells but it still requires power whether it is casting a spell or not.

This would add a lot to the game in terms of what you could do within a Survival game (ie. building more convenient exp/item farms and incorporating an easier way to clear out/even an area of certain blocks to either build or gather materials) and especially Adventure maps (ie. setting up new and interesting traps and dynamic spawners). Thereo s no limit to what can be done via the spell system and as such additions can be easily made to it.

And thato s Avalon! I hope you enjoyed looking it over! :)
