Being sick sucks!
I’m sure I can speak for most when I say getting sick is absolutely the worst thing ever. Okay maybe not THE worst but it’s one of the worst things. When you’re a kid you tend to like being sick because it means you get to stay home and have some of moms famous chicken noodle soup all day. On the other hand you would have to drink that horrible “grape” medicine. When you grow up you realize that getting sick is actually awful.
Currently, being in college, I’m starting to really understand the importance of going to school and not missing anything. In high school we all kind of take that for granted that when you come to school the next day, the teacher will give you the handouts they gave while you were absent and refresh you on the material you missed. When you get to college the teachers kind of stop caring whether or not you show up and it’s really all on you to deal with what you missed in class. The worst part is that in high school, or middle school, or basically anything before college and university, your parents could write you a simple note saying you were at home sick and the teachers would understand. Once in college, if you don’t want an absence to go on your record, you’re required to bring an official doctors note.
Now let me explain to you why it’s so frustrating to get an official doctors note. So here in Canada, we have free healthcare, and free clinics, and all that jazz. The issue with this is that because they are free, they are almost ALWAYS busy, especially on the mornings of weekdays. Having to wait at a clinic for 5 hours just so that you can be told that you have a cold and should be bed-rest for the day is very counterproductive. Not to mention that sometimes doctors will charge a fee for a doctor’s note.
The entire point of not going to school when you’re sick is because you don’t feel well enough to go into class. Having to then spend that day you wanted to sleep in and hang out in bed with some hot chocolate and a nice bowl of soup (probably from a can) out at a clinic waiting to get looked at by an overqualified doctor is not fun. Not to mention that usually those clinics are filled with sneezing and coughing kids, which is an entirely different issue. Sometimes I leave clinics feeling like I’ve contracted some other illness from the people there.
With all that said, I’ll just focus on the actual aspects of being sick that sucks. Meaning, the constant stuffy nose, the coughing and soreness in your throat and the fact that you feel like you’re going to sneeze every second of every day. That awful “grape” medicine is now replaced with the even more awful Buckleys (it tastes awful but it works!) and you have to carry around a box of tissues so that you don’t sneeze in public and become a snot walrus. Sniffling becomes your new sound effect and your sleeves, let’s not even mention how gross those end up if you forget tissues. Point is, it all sucks.
With all this said, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m just going to always wear a jacket, hat and gloves and avoid getting si-si-siiii-AAAACHHHOOOOO… *sniff* Darn it! Not again… Looks like I’ll be spending most of my day at the clinic again, but when I get home, maybe I’ll write a blog or record some Minecraft. Who knows?

it also happens if ive been sick XD
*runs a fever*
*gets on a home school*
"Ok, now what"
Most of the time if I am sick, I just deal with it and still come to school. Missing school just makes things difficult for you and even if the principal says say home if you're sick, a lot of people don't follow that rule anyways. I remember many times in my life I would be taking a test and everyone in the room was sniffing up their snot every 10 seconds lol, always bring tissues. For me colds are like nothing, but a regular, annoying thing that goes away really fast.
I go to college too now and my instructor said she had went to school even when she is sick too.
yes that is the truth, and it sucks indeed
