Hello everyone! Today, I am bringing you a skin tips kinda guide. I will mostly cover the basics and will edit this throughout my skin making experience.
The program I use to make my skins is Photoshop CS6 but I'm pretty sure GIMP will also work! c:
For those of you that don't know, my name is Ally, and I will be your derpy guide today :3
Each tip will be divided into sections with subtitles, please note that this is a GUIDE for your skins, NOT a play-by-play on how to make skins. Soz. ;-;
Shading is crucial is teen skin making - any skin making, really! For this, you need to think realistically. You need to think of your hightling and shadows. I use some stock references from deviantART because that lighting definitely helps me plan out how I wanted the shine to look, thinking in perspective. This is one of the many contouring references I used!
Skin shading is more complex than hair and clothing shading. Not all parts of Minecraft's skin template are even, which makes my OCD kick in ;-; However, there is a way around it to make it look nice and smooth.
The areas where I drew red lines correspond to where you would put your base skin color line for a nice shading. This is OPTIONAL. This same method applies to basically each section! You could do this anyway you'd be prefer. Some people do the other method, which I will talk about if you guys like this first tip!
Please let me know if you guys would like for me to continue. I would love to see your skins. Please give this a diamond if it helped in some sort of way and I will write more (as I said)! c: Thank you for reading lel
