Anya cried out in terror as the large shadow approached. She tried to spread her wings but couldn’t. The weak light of the rising sun brightened to show a large elephant staring at her. She calmed herself. It was just an elephant. Nothing scary about that. Seeing that the danger was behind her now, she shook off her fears and tried to spread her wings again. No luck. Her left wing was twisted and stuck behind her, waving in the breeze like the flag on a pirate’s ship. The elephant still stood there. Then, it suddenly trumpeted a loud, long call out to the world. The sound spoke to her of peacefulness and tranquility. The elephant held out its ears to show Anya the beautiful pattern of a butterfly’s wings. The ear pattern was much like her own wings. The elephant reared and tossed Anya onto it’s back with its trunk.
