Annother Majestic Blog by Peyton.
This blog is opinionated, but I think most of you will agree with me.
Today, I am going to clear up something that seems to have everyone all screwed up. What a cartoon texture pack/ skin is.
Cartoon is possibly the most misinterpretted definition when it comes to texturing and skinning. People have somehow come to associate the term with extreme simplicity and low detail. Fact is, that is untrue. If you watch nearly ANY cartoon, they will ALL have some shading. Why? Because shading makes things 3D!
And annother thing. There is a reason there are few professional cartoonists out there, that is because it is a difficult style to create!
Cartoon is not about making things simplified, it is about making them stylized and fun, but still recognizable.
But people still seem to think simplicity makes a cartoon, which is highly untrue.
First of all, when we hear someone refer to a texture or skin as cartoony, it usually looks like this.
However, this is NOT what cartoon looks like. This is what is called "Buecket Fill."
What makes something cartoony is is color scheme and overall theme.
For examples, look at Frenden's Cartoon Pack, or Pixbit's. Both of those packs have generally bright colors and an overall cheery theme.
I have made a little list if what does, and what doesn't make something cartoony.
What doesn't:
No shading or detail.
Low saturated or default colors.
What Does:
Moderately high saturated colors.
Cheery theme.
Using only detail neccesary to make texture presentable.
Only enough shading to make it 3D.
That is what I think makes a texture or skin cartoony. If you disagree, fine. This is just my opinion, and I am sure there are many people who will agree with me.
So, thanks for reading. Please leave a diamond if you think this would be helpful to some people. If I don't get diamonds and comments, it won't get on the reel, and them nobody will see it. Just sayin'.
BTW, RIP Cerfluffes. ;)

Also, it's:
Misinterpreted
Another and Bucketfill.
Not Misinterpretted, Annother and Bueketfill.
I made the dirt block.
And I will fix those spelling mistakes later today.
