Chapter One - Ivy
Ivy and her family were deeply immersed in a game of Out-Ball, with Seed, their immensely fat flabbit. Out-Ball was played like this: where any animal, in their case a flabbit, was surrounded by people. Ivy’s small family consisted of three, so that’s how many people stood around Seed. The family tossed a ball made of grass that was caked in clay (stolen from Brook Tribe) to each other while Seed attempted to block the pass by jumping in the air. Being half rabbit, he could jump pretty high in the air, and won most of the games.
Laughing, sweating, and covered in mud, the family trudged up the ladder and into their concealed treehouse, where the rest of the tribe had made their homes.
Bridges wound from tree to tree, giving the tribe access to each other's homes, trading shops, and of course, the Leader’s Cabin. As they were part of Evergreen Tribe, they used their powers of the earth to their advantage, and moved the branches of the trees to hide their homes from onlookers.
“I almost won.” Ivy said energetically.
“No you didn’t!”Mother replied. “You tickled Seed with those flowers when he wasn’t looking!”
“No I didn’t!” Ivy lied unconvincingly. “They were already there! So, I might have grown them just a little bit buuuut, I still lost.”
“It’s getting late, we should go to sleep soon.” Father said unexpectedly.
“Fiiiiiineeee,” Ivy grumbled, as she walked toward the wash basin in the other room to clean off the mud and leaves in her hair. After spending ten minutes in the warm water, she hopped out and put on the clean fur pajamas that Mother had set on the floor. She opened the door thinking about her warm bed, looked up and screamed.
Seed was standing in the doorway making a ridiculous face.
“SEED!” Ivy roared. “You scared the living life out of me!”
He made a chirrupping noise that sounded like a snigger. Ivy jumped onto him and tickled his toes, where she knew he was most vulnerable. They tumbled down the stairs and into the living room, still fighting. Being twice the size of her, Seed easily sat on top of her until she sighed in defeat and asked him to get up.
“Mmmh Nmmuh,” he answered, not getting off of her.
“UUUUGGHHH! Puhleeeesee get off me? Please?” she wheezed under his weight. Finally he got off and dashed into her room.
“You’re just as bad as Leaf!” she called after him. Leaf was Ivy’s neighbor. He constantly got into trouble and everyone thought that he liked being punished for doing horrible cheeky things. Ivy stood up and walked into her room to find Seed snoring loudly, and very unconvincingly in the corner of her tiny room. She smiled to herself, walked over to him plopped herself into his lap, and fell asleep.
That night, she had a dream.
