First, you need to click / the you need to type = /give (your name) 137 1
so that means you want command block(137) by one time (1). You can only use it when your in creative mode.
So if you want to put a command on it you need to type / first then a command that you would like to have.
to trigger the command, the command block needs a redstone signal, for example you put a leaver next to it and flick it, or a redstone timer. What ever you want untill it will give a redstone signal.
You can make a block to say something after you press a button or teleport you to a location that you like.
These commands are typed like this:
/@p tp (x) (y) (z)
/say (something?
the @p to target nearest player
the @r to target random player.
the @a to target all players.
