Today I give you an idea of what types of comments should be posted on blogs versus those that should not.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
zISYpng
These are the three types of comments, mainly, that swirl around PMC today. So, let's take a look at these comments. What constitutes a GOOD comment? What about a BAD comment? And, well, an ugly comment is kind of self-explanatory, but will still be explained. Read on, Mr./Mrs. Reader, to find out this intriguing info. :3
The Good
This is the type of comment you want people to post. Well thought out, pensive, constructive criticism/appraisal, good grammar, etc. These usually come from higher-level members, but can just as easily be written by lower-level members who just haven't been noticed yet.
Not all good comments are shining appraisal of whatever was written. There are some critical comments that are against the blog they are commenting on. These are fine, and if they aren't just completely railing against the topic posted with no obvious counter argument*, they should be kept. These comments, however, should not include phrases such as 'It stinks', 'I hate it', 'u suck'. As mentioned above, they must still be well thought out to be considered 'Good'.
*Such as: 'This is a horrible blog, it should be flagged and deleted! It's just so horrible I think it's just bad and stuff....'
the BAd
These are the comments that you don't want on your posts. Short, not well thought out, maybe bad grammar, etc. These are usually from younger members, although can still be written by older members.
They include comments such as 'I diamonded u, can you diamond me?', 'great post! i subscribed to you, can u check my stuff?', and others that were mentioned above. There are also people who post blogs, then comment on their own blog (not replying to anyone), or people who comment just to give XP to the poster.
Please try to refrai from these types of comments. They will probably be deleted by the poster anyway, so why write them?
...and the Ugly
Well, these are the worst of the worst. The comments that trigger long strings of comments beneath them berating the person who deigned post such an ignorant and thoughtless comment. There are even some of these types that can be very long. However, they're usually full of grammar mistakes and not organized or thought out at all, and make accusations that are potentially invalid.
Then there are the hate comments. Oh goodness. So someone posts something about bronies, and suddenly there are a bunch of absurdly hateful comments featuring bad language, bad grammar, ...the works. Or, someone posts something that isn't exactly Minecraft-related. I know, this is Planet Minecraft, but still, people should be able to post blogs on topics they think are important or interesting.
These types of comments should be deleted immediately by the poster, as they don't provide anything beneficial other than a small bit of XP for the person who wrote/made the blog/project/skin/texture pack/etc.
Delete those posts that are simply raging at you with no constructive thought. I know, I know, that might be hard. Maybe you want that little bit of XP given to you by that comment. But push past that, and press that 'delete' button next to the comment.
Don't delete constructive criticism comments, or comments that point out a flaw. You can use them to better yourself in your next post, or correct yourself in the current one. Also, don't just delete comments that argue with your point of view. Posting an opinion piece or rant will get you arguments for the other point of view. Deleting those arguments isn't very helpful, and may just prove the person's point who posted the argument.
Well, I hope you liked this blog, and learned a little something about what and what not to post when commenting. ;)
If everyone follows this, maybe PMC can turn into a better place, with everyone thinking critically and thoughtfully about what they say to each other. Thanks for listening! Until next time....
I agree completely. I will never delete a comment, unless its an advertisement. Whether it be rude, or pointless, it is someones thoughts. I try to give good comments, especially on new skinners and new bloggers. I always try to bring up grammar in the nicest way possible, and shading. I don't delete comments cuz they are someones opinion, no matter what.
I agree and like this blog.
Now, out of curiosity, how do you feel about comments like "Cool" or simple ones like that. Personally, I don't dislike them, but I wish that person had taken time to give me a better idea of their opinion. What do you think?
That's true. I think it would be better if people added more than 'Nice' or 'Cool'. For example, saying 'Good blog,' then 'However, I think you could maybe improve a bit on...' or 'I think you did great on...'
I agree, but it doesn't even have to be criticism in my opinion. It could also be something like a memory ora reason you like the submission. I like it a lot when a person can connect with my blog, and tells me why. It makes me feel like i really touched them a bit.
For example, on my most recent Calvin and Hobbes Minecraft Comic (which you shall be judging), I got a comment that basically said "I love Calvin and Hobbes, and I loved that you combined it with Minecraft" which made me feel great that I really made them like my blog by connecting two things they like.
I think ugly is a thin line. What is the line between getting spammers and attention seekers off, and telling people they suck. Sometimes you have to be blunt, tell them the truth, let them learn. If they are no good at something, tell them. Better sooner than later. I believe it is less down talk than advice.
