I'm building a new computer. I'm ordering parts for my horribly limited budget, and I'm thinking about how I would have the best computer in the world if I had more money.
And I think to myself.......(OH what a wonderful world)
No, seriously though. I think about how it was like a competition in my mind to have the best computer possible. And you know what, it kinda is, but does it really matter as long as it does what I want it to do?
So I'm on the topic of competition and I think about all these amazing people on Planet Minecraft, and how some of them have these amazing renders because of their amazing artistic creativity, but also due to amazing processors. And I suddenly stopped liking those people, thinking I had to be as "good as them".
I DON'T. They specialize in different areas than I do, and that is a good thing. If everyone operated the same way I do, we would have a bunch of egotistical bastards who build once every 5 months. But we don't :D
We have a great community, but there is still some competition. Lets complain about the level system.
It is asking for competition, which leads to trouble when not controlled. And the level system is not a contest, it is not a competition that was put in place, it was a way of measuring progress. FOR YOURSELF. Not anyone else, not one bit(OK maybe a little bit, we are human). So we have this ongoing competition throughout all of Planet Minecraft. Sad, isn't it.
So here is my suggestion. In the part of your screen where other peoples level is displayed, put duct tape there. Metaphorically of course, please don't screw your screen up.
What I mean by this is ignore levels. Please. It will just cause tension and stress for everyone in the community. Take the diamonds, comments, downloads, views, favorites, subscribers, whatever you want. But DO NOT take them and then think "how much EXP am I getting?"
I'm guilty of this. It feels like an addiction when you get to the point of thinking about posting something for EXP.
I know I did when I first started. I posted because I wanted to become a higher level. After that, I realized that is not the goal on Planet Minecraft.
The goal is to have an integrated community, to form new relationships with people you would never make friends with otherwise, and to give back to the community in the form of your creations, artistic expression, whatever you want.
Anyway............. yeah. I don't have a good conclusion, so I'll just leave you with the suggestion to diamond it if you like it, and sub or something if you wanna see more.
Stay Saxxy
BTW, tell me if you got the wonderful world refrence.
