In this post, you can learn how to make a minecraft server (Not CRACKED) using Hamatchi. For those who already know what a minecraft server is, and just want to know how to set it up, skip to the "making a server" part of this article.

What Is A Minecraft Server?

A minecraft server is a way for you and your friends to play together on one world, either creative or survial(Not including recent updates which allow hardcore and adventure mode). All your friends will be playing on your computer so to speak, so it often does slow your computer down a bit. There are ways to fix this, as renting space from a website, but I will now be going in to that in this article.

The First Steps

There are a few steps you must consider before starting to make a server. One, is your computer fats enough to handle it? Most gamers who are getting a server are using a desktop computer and have speed to spare, but some people may be using a laptop. In this case you want to consider the amount of players you are going to have on at a time.

Offically Getting Started

The first thing you are going to need is to get a Hamatchi. You will need the unmanaged version and here is the link(make sure you get a desktop shortcut): https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/access/freedom/1/?wt.srch=1&originid=4286&utpk=logmein%20hamachi&destination=/welcome/access/freedom/1/&ef_id=M3NP2oRzvz0AABCg:20120910015339:s

After that downloads, you are going to want to go to minecraft.net, and log in. Go to download game, and scroll down. There will be a download for Mac and a PC, chose yours. Download that to your desktop and go to the server properties file. Open your hamatchi and look at your IP. Put that IP in to your server properties file where it says Server IP or adress. Save the file after that and click on the open server icon. After a few seconds, a screen that runs the server will pop up. The world is currently named "world", but you can change that in the server properties file. Your server is now running, but you still need to get on. You now go to hamatchi and click on create new network. Name it whatever you like and create a good password.

Getting On Your Server

To get onto the server simply open minecraft and go into multiplayer. Say create server, and enter the IP and any name you may like. Then you can get on. But to get your friends on, they have to get hamatchi and join your network, pretty strait forward. Then they do the same thing in minecraft, joining the server, and they can get on as well! And there you are, you now have a working server!
