June 3rd. For most people it was just a regular day in San Deigo, but for Charlie Ben, it was his 13th birthday. Charlie's mother had left to go buy a gift for her son, she always bought gifts at the last minute. She goes into goodwill (she's also cheap) and grabs the first thing she sees, a ragdoll with a large heart on its chest, navy button eyes, and a zipper running from the back of its head and down its spine. She purchased it and drives home. Charlie is awake and at the kitchen table, eating microwave waffles with jelly. His mother walked in and says "Happy Birthday!" Charlie was as excited as any new teenager would be. His mother pulled the doll out from behind her back, and Charlie's smile immediately disappeared.
He was not happy with the gift his mother bought for him, but he accepts it. Later that day, shortly after his mother went to bed. He bursts into a silent rage, cursing to himself about how his mother no longer loves him, while furiously ripping apart the ragdoll. He finishes, throws the torn doll into his closet, which closes from the force of the throw, and cries himself to sleep. 4 minutes past midnight, Charlie wakes up to a voice calling his name. "Charlie, come play with me!" Charlie sits up. The closet is open, the ragdoll is standing at the foot of the bed, staring at him in a creepy, but playful way. "Come play with me!" it says. Charlie is scared out of his fragile mind. The doll spoke to him. The ragdoll clumsily walks toward Charlie and sits next to him in the bed. "My name's Kevin." The boy freaking out. "Why the pale face, Charlie? Is something WRONG with me? Do you not LIKE me?" Charlie scrambles out of the bed screaming for his mom. "She never loved you, remember? I took care of that." Charlie opens the door to his mother's bedroom. Blood. Everywhere. His mother is in her bed, her neck and wrists are slit open, her eyes are gorged out, and there is a knife in her chest.
Charlie is in tears, screaming. Kevin is in the hallway. "Don't worry, I still love you." Charlie dashes out of the room and sprints toward the phone to dial 911. Kevin leaps onto Charlie's shoulders screaming, "NO!! Don't get rid of me! Don't fear me! Love me!" Charlie struggles and slams into a wall, they both fumble down a short step into the kitchen. Charlie grabs Kevin by the leg and throws him at the kitchen cabinet. He lands on the counter and for about 30 seconds, it's silent. Then, Kevin stands up with a limp body and cocks his head to the side. "If I can't be loved, then neither can you!" He then dives toward the knife holder, and flings the largest one straight at Charlie. It pierces him in the chest, and he falls to the floor. Kevin stands over him. The middle threads of the heart stitched onto his chest unravel. "Now we're even."
^ Contest version & an older, more sinister drawing of him. Kevin originally had the zipper on his chest, and the heart was a cross. He had patches on his arms and legs, and no mouth. His back was ripped open, and the threads from his stitching shot out of him like tentacles, which he used to tie a noose around the mother's neck and later throw multiple knives at Charlie. I had to make the contest version different than the original because I couldn't fit all of the original details onto the skin, and I'm not sure if HD skins were accepted. Sadly, I was disqualified. My past and present self are now crushed in depression...

One of the original quotes I had was, "Memories last forever, so try to forget..." This was because in my original story, it was a dream of a twisted memory. In the ending, Charlie was suppose to wake up, gasp for breath, and pause. He'd look around and find Kevin next to him in the bed, all stitched up with patches. He then gets ready and goes to school. As he and his mom drove off, you could see Kevin no longer on the bed, but on the windowsill, watching them leave.
