DHAFcraft Factions Guide

Are you a complete beginner to factions? Or do you just want to improve your factions knowledge? For both, this is the right place! This guide consists of three parts, part I, starting off (skip this if you already have a faction), part II, building a base and part III, raiding.

This is Dhafcrafto s guide to factions, our server IP is: mc.dhafcraft.com

Part I:

To create a faction, do:

/f create (faction name) (Note: () symbolizes mandatory information)

Now, you can change your faction description:

/f desc (description)

You don't have to do this, but it's fun anyway. If you decide your faction name needs changing, do:

/f tag (new faction name)

Congradulations, now you've created a faction! The problem is, it's no use to you yet. You'll have to deposit some money into your faction's bank and claim some land before you can use the plugin's main features. To deposit some money, do:

/f money deposit (amount of money)

On our server, DHAFcraft, like many others, you'll need money to do this. One way of easily getting money on most servers is voting. On DHAFcraft, you could also just dig up a bit of dirt/gravel etc. and sell it. (See info boards at spawn). Anyways, now you'll want to claim land. To do that, go up to a piece of land marked "wilderness" (You don't actually see marks, but every once in a while when you pass faction land it flashes their name and "wilderness" again when you exit their land), and then do:

/f claim

to claim it. If everything goes well, now you have a piece of claimed, protected land. If not, you're probably missing power. In factions, everything operates on a system of power. When you get killed, you lose power, when you kill, you gain power. (Alternatively, you could just wait for it to regain) For each piece of land you own/want to claim, you need one power point. If you don't have enough, you can't claim land, and your land can be claimed (say you have 5 land and 3 power, 2 pieces can be claimed by others).

Now you can invite people. Do

/f invite (username)

to invite someone. They'll have to do

/f join (your faction)

to get into it. With every new person, you get more power. But watch out, some people will want to join your faction to destroy or steal from it, and some others will continuously die, causing you to lose power, so be careful who you accept into your faction!

Anyway, that's pretty much the basics of factions! Now, it's time to build a base. Read on to find out how! :D

Part II:

The first rule of base-building in factions is to remember to build inside your own land. When you claim a piece of land, you claim exactly 1 chunk of it. When you exit your land, you'll see a green text that says "wilderness" pop up in chat. When you re-enter your land, your faction's name will pop up. This means you're in your land, so it's safe to build.

Although others can't break blocks in your faction land, they can set fire to your land from the outside or build TNT cannons to blow it up. To prevent people from being able to destroy your base, you'll have to either build it of obsidian, or better, cover it in water. (On some other servers, obsidian breaks after several hits from TNT)

If you're still asking how to build your base, then read on! There are three types of common bases: Underground, in the air and at ground-level. Underground bases and flying bases are the best. They each offer good protection, but if you really want to be safe, use obsidian and water. Never, ever, build a base at ground level.

Part III:

Once you've set up a base, you'll probably want to be the most powerful faction on the server (Or something like thato ¦) This is where raiding comes in. There are two ways of doing this: Power-based raiding or TNT-based raiding.

Both methods are relatively easy to understand. The first, power-based raiding, works like this: Your enemy faction has a certain amount of power, like you do, and if you reduce it enough, you can claim your enemy's land. To reduce the faction's power, kill its members. Each time you do so, it loses a bit of power. Watch out though, your enemy can also kill you and claim your land!

The second method is TNT-based. To raid a faction, you build a TNT cannon outside its land and fire pieces of TNT at the faction's base. It's easiest to hit ground targets (Why it is not recommended to create a faction base at ground level). Once you've blown up a faction's base's wall, you can enter the base. Now you can open up the faction's chests (If the server allows you to do so) and steal the factions' stuff! An alternative method of doing this is the use of creeper spawn eggs: You can use these inside and outside of a faction's land, so on the servers where you can't open a faction's chests, you can crack them open with creepers. Consider creepers a portable TNT cannon. When entering a base, general PVP tips apply: Always remember to wear armor, carry a sword and bow, enchant your equipment and carry potions, golden apples and enderpearls when possible.

Sometimes, to raid a faction, you'll have to do

/f enemy (faction you dislike/want to raid)

This allows you to kill the faction's member inside their own territory. Watch out though: This also brings drawbacks! You can't teleport near an enemy, and an enemy will know you are trying to fight them when you mark them as one.

If you aren't feeling like having enemies, you can also do

/f ally (faction you want to ally)

to ally yourself to a faction. You'll both have to do this to become allies. Allies cannot kill each other. To be neutral (standard state) with a faction, do

/f neutral (faction you with to be neutral with)

You can only do this when you are allies, if not, the faction you wish to be neutral with (which would at that time be your enemy) would have to also set you as neutral.

The advantages to raiding are mainly that your enemies will lose power in successful raids, and that you get lots of shiny new stuff!

Well, that was the DHAFcraft guide to factions! If you want to try everything out, come to our server DHAFcraft! We run 24/7 and have factions, an economy and more! Come try it out!
