so many probably would ask why? well think if there where elevators it would be faster then ......ladders (i hate ladders). u could put mine cart track on it and it would make for easy transportation of storage mine carts . also you could put chests on it i mean how many times have you been down in a mine and ran out of space? and maybe this could even be used to get to your 5th floor faster then a ladder.
