Hello all!
Today I will be laying down some building tips for you!
Let's get straight into it:

Tip 1. If you are in a creative world DO NOT make a home completely out of precious materials such as diamonds, redstone, gold, emerald, lapis lazuli or iron. Especially if you build it on a server or post it on on a website like PMC. When I say completely I mean as in walls, floors, roof and ceiling all the same thing. You can have them as a decoration for a chair or something.

Tip 2. If you're going to do it try have the task of doing it in survival, this way it seems less noobish and gives a feeling of pride and accomplishment. No cheating! Cheating will result in people losing your trust and will lead to them disliking you.

Tip 3. You'll see that with alot of houses with windows they look a little bit flat and colourless, to make it look more 3D, go for a window sill or outline the window with a different colour to your house, you'll need a colour that goes with it though. To make doors look better try outline them as well and make a 1 or 2 block 'tunnel' to the door.

Tip 4. DO NOT use a black and white or a red and blue checkered pattern for your floors, it leaves it with two colours that end up overpowering the look of your house, although with enough skill you might be able to pull it off! You still might want to go for more of a rustic look or a design with basic shapes and colours, nothing too flash. If you would like a good carpeting go on servers and have a look around for some designs you like. Most of the time you'll notice that the more simple designs are the better ones.

Tip 5. If you want to add an even more 3D effect to your house use slabs for an over-hang by the back door, if you would like to you might even add an entire patio to your house. This, just like everything else, is slightly harder to do when you have a two story house. On the note of two story houses read tip 6.

Tip 6. If you want to make a two story house, it gets a bit harder because of extra detailing. If you want to pull it off I suggest adding an extra block between floors, so there is 3 blocks. With this you can make different flooring for your second floor without it being a problem for the ceiling on the first floor. You can also have a bit of a raised porch for your second floor for when you have too many guests.

Tip 7. Add decorations to the outline of your house, add a flower bed or a little water feature, make it as unique as you are! No two opinions are the same. If someone gives their opinion, listen to it, if it's harsh, take the feedback and learn from it, if you are unable to take this critique then ask them not to say anything and keep it to themselves.

Tip 8. If you want to make something at an angle on your roof, you can either use stairs or get the carpenters block mod. It's a mod that adds different blocks other than squares. So you can have angled roofs and even use them as stairs. Once you've placed these you can pick a block of your type and right click it, it will read what type of block you right clicked it with and use it. It is not my mod. If you want to find out more go to skydaz , it is run by skydoesminecraft and adds installers to mods so it's easier for those who don't know how.

I'll also be adding to the blog with more tips every now and them, these are just the basics!

I hope will have a good think about these five tips and that you had a good read!

If you have any suggestions then post it in the comments. Don't worry I'll give credit to you.

If you like it enough maybe give a diamond, a favorite and a sub!

The chequered look can be pulled off, in my opinion. What I would say is use two colours that are not too different from each over, like Birch and oak, or Oak and Dark Oak. The problem with checkered tiles are when the colours are too different and too bright, THAT is when it becomes overpowered.
