Chapter 5
I was at a loss of words. I stared deep into her eyes, and said nothing. She smiled, "Is something wrong?".
"You... We... How... But... Agh!" I threw my hands up in exasperation. She laughed.
"How long have you been he-" She put her finger to my lips, keeping me from saying more, "Eat, we have to head back to class soon."
*****
When I began to head home, I ran into that girl again.
"Hey! Erm, I never got your name..." I said guiltily.
"Cassandra. My name is Cassandra. But please, call my Cassie." She said with a sweet, hearty smile.
"Um... Would you care to come over to my place? I have some Tactic homework to finish."
She must have figured out that I was asking her out on a date, for she laughed at me. I turned bright red and kicked at the ground. As I looked up shyly, she gave me an odd look.
"Did you not hear me? I said, c'mon, show me your house." She giggled.
"Oh. Er, yeah, Hmm... Come with me, uh, yeah, i'll, um, show you the way." I stammered. Apparentally, me screewing myself over is very humorous to her.
******
As I set my books down, I glanced over to see her rummaging through my photos. I was ready to lunge at her when she stopped at a picture of my dad, and gave me a questioning look. I waved her away, and began to jot down tactics and strats that we went over in class today.
"Who is this? Is he your father?" She said in a quiet voice.
I nodded my head, and to which she replied, "I was there when he died."
