Is it just for in-game chat or Let's Plays? The one I use is a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-LifeChat-LX-3000-Headset-Black/dp/B000JSDOMO/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1338294150&sr=1-1) it's reasonably priced, with good sound quality (thought if you're planning on using it for listening to music (esp. dubstep/similar) you may want to look elsewhere) The mic is crystal and has good noise cancelling (it managed to cut out the hideous sound of my cat being sick during a Let's Play recording.)

I was thinking about doing much the same thing but found a video of Syndicate talking about his various setups and he said he's used one of these over some vastly more expencive kit he's got (I think the example in question was about £400 more).
