INTRODUCTION

Hello Minecrafters and welcome back to another blog. I've lately been seeing on many servers alot of griefing incidents and have heard things about it, this really makes me mad. Now before I go on rambling, I'd just like to let you all know, no this isn't just going to be screaming and ranting on trolls that grief, i'm going to give my opinions on it and if you find them offensive then I suggest moving onto another blog. As always don't forget to leave some feedback, I love reading all your comments!

Griefing...

Griefing has been the most hilarious things that have happened since video games, yet also the most devastating to the victims of it. Griefing takes many forms and doesn't just mean the one form that most people think of it as, which is *Just destroying somebody's hard work or destroying what they've built, such as in Minecraft.* Griefing can mean that you pretty much are trolling somebody, like in Call of Duty, you can corner trap them in corners, that's considered griefing.

The most popular place that most people grief on is Minecraft. Since Minecraft is a game where you can do whatever you'd like and destroy whatever you like, some trolls abuse this power and destroy other's hard work. Now, some servers are smart enough to put protection on from griefing, but some servers get surprised when they log on to find a griefed spawn and their house is filled with lava. The real question is...Why Do They Grief?

Why They Grief

Their are 3 logical reasons why a person might be interested in griefing and thus causing them to.

  • [1] They Find It Funny To Watch Your Sadness As Your Griefed.

  • [2] They're trying to get revenge for something that you did to them to make them angry/sad.

  • [3] No reason at all...

It's sad to think that people gain enjoyable feelings from watching you rage and be sad, but that's mostly the case. People think it's very funny but they don't really think of what it's like for the victim, just think, most griefers that grief others have experienced griefing and have either found it hilarious and wanted to do it for themselfs or are so angry that they want others to feel their pain. Hopefully, your not one of them.

Can Griefers Ever Stop Griefing?

Yes.

Many servers such as PvP/Raiding servers allow you to raid other's bases and grief them, that is a great way to blow off steam in a legal way instead of going onto a server that forbids it and doing it anyways.

Their are actually many servers that are called "Griefing Servers." They allow you to join the server and pretty much grief whatever you want in Creative! Instead of griefing somebody elses work that they've worked a long time on, do it in a way that won't make anybody angry/devastated.

Are You A Griefer Keith?

No.

I don't find griefing very enjoyable, due to the many incidents where I was griefed. I didn't find it funny at all, so why should I do it to somebody else? I play on PvP/Raid servers that allow me to grief in a way that isn't so painful to other players. It's also a fun and enjoyable way to blow off some steam if your in the mood to grief. Just always think this, How Would You Like It If They Griefed You?

CONCLUSION

I hope you've enjoyed this blog and have found it interesting. Hopefully if you were reading this as a griefer, you've changed your mind about griefing and want to start a new life as a Video Game player! I don't judge trolls, and think they're mean all the time, most do it for legit reasons, but it's not right. Anyways, I hope you've all had fun reading this and as always, Have A Wonderful Minecraftian Day!

I was recently griefed on the mineslam factions, i'm not gonna rant about them griefing me; its that they did a weak job of greifing. I mean there were still chests around filled with wheat seeds. This is a msg to all griefers, if you do greif, don't half-a** it

I've experienced griefing many times before, just recently I found 2 griefers that immediately left when I joined, I couldn't find their IP so I'm worried if they have alt accounts. I banned them and 2 minutes later another person joined I felt quite suspicious and so I jailed them in the "Accusations Jail". Is it really probably that it could be the two griefers, just in an alt account? and what does the plugin McBans do?

It's very possible that the suspects you're talking about could have alt accounts for griefing the same server, as that sometimes occurs. So when they join on again, I'd search up their IP and IPban them so all of their alts aren't accessible on your server. Also, MCBans keeps track of your ban records, and stores it in a database. It's useful for Hub servers, that have many other servers connected to it. It's a pretty useful plugin. Hopefully they won't grief on your server again!

This is ANOTHER amazingly well written blog. bravo. Encore! I play on PvP/Raid servers all the time. Its ok if you get griefed just let it go. Start over again. Don't think of it as a forced restart. Think of it as a new start with new colors to try. Learn from your mistakes and just enjoy it. Minecraft is a game and games were make to have fun.
