Hey everyone, It's me again. So as many of you know, Microsoft has supposedly decided to buy Mojang for about 2.3 bilion dollars. Yeah. But anyway, people have started taking sides here, and I've decided to express my viewpoint. As the title pretty much says, I think Microsoft is being stupid. Why? Read on, my friend, read on....
Why Mojang is agreeing to be bought.
I think we can all agree that Microsoft is buying Mojang not because of either Cobalt or Scrolls, but because of the hit game that we all know so well, Minecraft. While Cobalt and Scrolls will be profitable, they're just small benefits compared to Minecraft, which was so immensely popular it
So what confuses me here is, if developers wanted to buy it back then, why are they only selling it now? Is it simply because of the large sum of money Microsoft is offering? Do they plan to do a new project with Microsoft? Could it be that Microsoft is trying to fill the hole that Bungie left when it diverged? I don't think we can really tell, however Mojang has released papers on the subject of why they're selling themselves to Microsoft, however they're all vague, and none of them are very clear. They seem to just go in circles, and never really answer the question. Is Mojang hiding something for a grand reveal?
Let's crunch some numbers.
Minecraft's peak sales were 2 years ago, when the game's sales reached 9.2 million. But ever since then, the sales have been slowly declining. By around 2018, the game will only be selling an estimated amount of 100 people per month, which is drastically less than the current amount, if you look at the sales clock on the site. Minecraft is a dying game, and Mojang is a dying breed. In my opinion, Microsoft is buying fruit past it's prime, and if they want to do this and have it pay off, they'll need to travel back in time and buy the company three years ago.
Is there any other way acquiring Mojang will pay off?
Other than the publicity, I don't think so. If they're counting on Mojang producing another hit game, it's not going to happen. As TechCrunch's Josh Constine puts it:
In conclusion....
So yeah, what do you guys think? Is this going to turn out well, or will it be a disaster? Let me know in the comments! If you liked the blog, please don't forget to diamond, and if you can, subscribe! Both really help a lot, and I'm always grateful. And with that, I leave you. See you next time!

"Had tons of software developers aching to own the company that made it"

"Buying a game company is like buying an aging baseball player, you'll need a miracle to get another hit. And while they may have plenty of fans, they're not going to be gaining many new ones." -Josh ConstineI think that sums it up, really. I think Microsoft might be a bit blinded towards the future, thanks to their success when they acquired Bungie in 2000. We all know the story, a new game company called Bungie was making a revolutionary game, Microsoft jumped the gun, bought Bungie, Halo got released, Microsoft made millions. The case is obviously different here. Mojang is an old man in a young developer's world that's already changing. Fact is, sooner or later, a new game is going to come out. We'd never expect it, it'll come out of the blue, and it's going to surpass Minecraft. It's just the nature of things, and Microsoft is going to be pissed. Microsoft's buying a sport kite, and someone's gonna steal it. I just don't think it's a worthy purchase.
In conclusion....

Minecraft is at it's peek of popularity. It's dev stages are at an all time high and sales peeked/are declining soon
But, who doesn't know about minecraft? very few know of it's capabilities and what it can really do, but microsoft saw it
Microsoft, a company worth BILLIONS, can do anything to minecraft that they want
Take HoloLens for example - look it up NOW if you've not already. It's magnificant.
Things we never could imagine with minecraft's small mojang company will now take place and still under the same programmors and dev's (dinnerbone etc.) but with so many more features than we'd ever though possible before
Also, I'd like to see you try turn down 2.5bil. I would accept it in a heartbeat and fund future development on games. Notch is only human, in the end this was his decision and I respect that (granted I know it wasn't *his* but Mojangs).
So... microsoft is going to be pissed when they have 16,722,597 people playing?
Anyway I think I heard your name from a book before diamond
