So I have been wanting to make a texture pack for a long time, but don't know how. Could any of you tell me how?

This will get lengthy, so be warned:
1. Make a folder in your texture packs folder
(Mine would be C:\Users\nicho\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\resourcepacks)
The name of the folder will be the pack name ingame.
2. Inside the folder, create 2 files. 'pack.mcmeta' and 'pack.png'
Inside the pack.mcmeta file, include this (click 'this'), and then save it (it can't be a '.txt' file, otherwise Minecraft doesn't know it's there.
For pack.png, you edit the image, and the image is your thumbnail. (Recommended resolutions: 8x8, 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 96x96, 128x128, 256x256)
Now, if you launch Minecraft and look in your texture packs folder, the pack should be there, listed. If not, 'pack.mcmeta' has some incorrect data, or you just need to restart your game.
3. Go to '...\.minecraft\resourcepacks\<pack name>\assets\minecraft\textures\block'. If none of those folders exist, create them in the fashion shown above. Then, create another file. Name it 'stone.png'. Now edit it to be whatever you want, and then save it. Then apply your pack in Minecraft. The stone texture should be changed to your custom texture!
There are a lot more thing you can do with packs (like making custom sounds, custom guis, custom animations, and more), but I won't go over those. See this tutorial instead for those! https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Creating_a_resource_pack
