Hello everyone, AnimeFanFTW here, and today, I had a brainstorm.
I was watching a Youtube Channel called “Game Theory”, watching a video of how much Minecraft’s diamond armour would cost, and a thought came to me.
So Minecraft Steve is strong. Capable of wearing diamond armour, able to kill monsters and build giant buildings. But just how strong is Steve?
In our inventory, we are able to carry 36 different stacks of items.
Well, if all those 36 stacks were filled with blocks, just how much weight would Steve be carrying? Well, time to find out.

First up, how big is a normal Minecraft block? Well, that answer is simple. Officially, each side of a Minecraft Block is 1m tall and 1m wide, meaning that each block is 1 cubic meter (1m3) But just because every block is 1 cubic meter, doesn’t mean they weigh the same. Each object has a different mass then other objects. So let’s find out the mass of objects.
First, lets figure out the mass of I cubic meter of dirt.
Well, dirt has a different weight, depending on the state of it. Soft, loose soil is lighter, while heavy moist soil is heavier. But 1 cubic meter of dirt, wet or dry, will always weigh between 1,200-1,700 kilograms. That’s about the same weight as your average car! And that’s just from 1 block of dirt!!!
Well, how about 64 blocks? Simply times the number by 64.
1,200 or 1,700 X 64
That equals 76800-108800 kilograms!!! That’s as much as 15 African elephants!
That’s amazing, but we’re not done yet. What if Steve’s entire inventory was filled with nothing but 64 stacks of dirt blocks?
76800 or 108800 X 36
That equals 2,764,800-3,916,800 kilograms!!! That’s almost the weight of 21 Blue Whales!!!
To compare, the heaviest weight ever lifted by man was an American man named Paul Anderson, who, in 1985, was able to lift 2844 kilograms.
That would make Minecraft Steve 1377 times stronger than one of the world’s strongest men!
Oh, but we are not done yet. What about Gold Blocks? Gold is one of the heaviest metals in the world. So how heavy is one block?
Well, the answer is a whopping 19,300 kilograms.
Doing the math, 64 blocks would weigh 1,235,200 kilograms, and an entire inventory full would weigh 44,467,200 kilograms!
To compare, a gold collection like that would be worth 1,699,143,396,083.42 US Dollars! (Or 1,102,574,149,718.53 British Pounds, or 203,769,771,775,304.69 Japanese Yen, or 2,155,363,397,931.82 Australian Dollars!)
To compare again, if mankind gathered all the gold ever refined, it would weigh 174,100,000 kilograms. So that means Steve would be able to carry a quarter of all the gold ever found by man. That would be amazing to witness.
Well, what about the famous Diamond Block?
Well, this one is a little confusing. Diamonds are measured in weight with the term “Carat” (Not to be confused with the term “Karat” That’s for measuring the purity of gold.) So I’ll determine the weight and the carat value of a diamond block, just because.
According to Aqua-Calc.com, 1 cubic meter of diamond would weigh 3,514 kilograms, or 17,570,000 carats. Which, compared to gold, is actually pretty light. Guess gold is good for one thing in Minecraft after all…
A full stack of diamond blocks (3514 X 64) would equal 224,896 kilograms, or 1,124,480,000 carats. An entire inventory full of diamond blocks (224,896 X 36) would equal 8,096,256 kilograms, or a whopping 40,481,280,000 carats! That sounds amazing, but…
How much money would it be worth?
Well, the value of diamonds all depends on the state of it. If it’s clear, it’s worth more. If it’s cloudy, it’s worth less.
Since diamonds are incredibly unclear in Minecraft, it gets the lowest value of I3 (check chart above for info)
However, all the diamonds in Minecraft are blue. Diamonds are more valuable if it’s coloured. In fact, a I3 blue coloured diamond is worth at least US$33,500 per carat.
Now do this math problem: 33,500 X 40,481,280,000
The answer? It’s a staggering US$1,356,122,880,000,000 (Otherwise known as 1.35 quadrillion US dollars!!!)
To compare, according to some government economist, the entire country of the USA is worth US$22.98 trillion dollars. This means that if Steve was carrying all the diamond blocks he can ever carry, he is now carrying a payload 6 times more valuable than America!
