Ok so this might be a bit rage induced so hang on to your hats.
So I made my pirate deadpool skin for the contest thinking, surley the judges will see my attempt at a toataly kick butt looking classic pirate hat, and surley theyll love what I did with the 1.8 features.
Nope.
I wouldnt have been mad if the judges had seen it and said they didnt like it, no problem there.
Yaknow what im ticked off about tho?
I dont think the judges ever even saw it.
The finalists were judged on getting diamonds, and Im firmly anti asking for diamonds, so I was put at a disadvantage for not sounding whiny.
But thats just scratching the surface on why Im ticked off.
So, my skin is clearly better than those idiots who post a random teenage boy, but see, the problem with those random teenage boy skins, is they clutter the list.
So everyone has a 10 minute period to see my skin before its pushed down to the bottom, because of crap skins.

Ok, now lets get into what REALY makes me mad.
(No offence to the creator here, it was contest related, Im simply expressing an opinion.) Surley you can see how some skins (<-- not naming any names at owners request) on the finals are  so much worse than this:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/skin/captain-piranha/
So your probably thinking, "That skin is much better done than some of the other ones, did I miss it on the finals board?" well lemme answer that question, NO YOU DID NOT.
You know why?
Because the creator of skin number one has a higher rank and more subs.
Clearly skin number one, (<-- Ill leave skin #1 up to your imagination on wich ones you thought shouldnt be finalists since the owner was not aprriecative of me using a link to his skin) will not even come close to winning when the judges see it, and it took a bare minimum amount of work to create..
Whereas skin #2 clearly has taken at least 2 hours of work, if not more.
So why the heck has skin number one made it tot he finals?
Well, creator of #1 is a moderator, and has been on alot longer than the creator of  #2, therefore, evryone just gave it a diamond, because of his previous work.
Whereas #2 has done nothing but quality work, and has not been recognized because of crap skins cluttering the site.
So, pretty much in a nutshell, there were plenty of EPIC skins for the contest that were never veiwed cause of idiots (No Im not referring to #1, he actualy made a legit contest skin wether I like it or not.) posting crappy teenager skins that had absolutley nothing to do with the contest, and even if those skins had gotten veiwed, it wouldnt have done much good because people with more subs who are loyal to them (<--- take notes subscribers) would have diamonded the heck out of it.
What I propose be done: Have a team of site moderators check all skins every couple hours to make sure they are relevant to the contest, and have a team of sub judges pick the finalists, rather than scores doing it.
Oh yeah, sub finals would be nice to.

I don't know if you even read the rules. The contest board said that they would award more points to skins with originality as compared to well known skins. Deadpool wearing a pirate hat is still, technically, Deadpool. That's why you didn't get many points as compared to a poorly done skin. Your character was well known.

A: The point was that the judges didnt score it so I couldnt tell how many points I got.

B: I didnt see anyone else doing a deadpool in a pirate hat. He's a piratepool. By your logistics this means twighlight is technically a book and movie, which its not (Its a flaming piece of crap, but thats another discuscion)

C: "I dont know if you read the rules", well I dont know if you read the blog.

I can't disagee more. I was not a very well known skinneruntill very recently witht the "Underground Creatures" skin contest. It's ad that your skin didn't make finals and I think it should've. I personally agree with the diamond system. It requires the skinner to make a qualit skin that the community will appreciate (You were very succesful withtis part) The other part is really pushing for diamonds. Advertise in chat, ask people what they think! and above all comment on other contest skins. This sounds a bit cheesy but I've found that by wishing a fellow competitor good luck and giving them a diamond, they are more likely to visit your skin and do the same. That has been my experience, I studyed several of the great skinners on pmc, then spent well over a week on my contest skin. Then I posted it and immidietly got positive feedback. This motivated me to advertise! and thanks to a lot of time spent talking to people making new friends and wishing peers good luck. I made it to finals and got 13th place over all. That is why I agree witht the diamond system. :)

Actually no that is dumb.  It shouldn't be on solely diamonds because then thats just a popularity contest.  Doesn't matter how much you advertise people with a bigger following will do better.   Plus it shouldn't be about all advertising, it should be about the work and the quality.

It is about the quality of your work I began advertising after I realized that my skin was doing well (around the 35th diamond). It's not a popularity contest I was a literal unknown of PMC untill my entry in the underground creatures contest, and my skin caught at first because of the QUALITY of the skin itself! Although it's true people with more followers do very well it doesn't give you or anyone else the right to be lazy not advertise and not try to get your skin into finals and then afterword write dreary blogs ranting about how "unfair" the contests are! It takes lots of work to make it to finals and to generally be a success on PMC, so just because some of the more poular members have thousands of subscribers doesn't mean they work to get them. The moral of this is that if you want recegnition work for it! don't just give it a poor shot then fail and blame it on other members poularity.

No advertising yourself around isn't the right way.  You shouldn't have to advertise your work around for it to get noticed.  The piece should speak for itself without the need to artifically prop it up.  And it's not being lazy because those people spent lots of time working on their project to submit and it should be spent more on that rather than having to boost your submittion up.

Sorry, society doesn't currently work that way (fairly, Justly). Any skinner that has a skin that he or she wants to make it to finals needs to be prepared to work to get there and that goes beyond just time spent on the skin itself it also means time spent promoting and socializing, it isn't easy. If a skin contest on PMC was the purest form of skin contest the skin itself would indeed decide whether it was in finals or not, but that's a dream of a perfect world. It's not possible! Every contest PMC has receives hundreds and hundreds of entries and to individually judge and score each would take an eternity. Hence PMC developed the diamond system. It might not seem fair, but by adding the diamond system the skin contest becomes more than just a competition of skinning skill, but a contest of persistence. The judges only want high quality skins created by people that are willing to work to get them into finals, and the diamond system fills both of those criteria. Also you still seem to ignore my main point, if a skin is truly quality it will receive the attention it deserves, and once this happens it is up the creator to help it on it's way! And if a person has completed their skin and has nothing else to change on it, why not give yourself a hand and help your skin make it to finals! it can only better your chances of winning.

Society != A contest

Basically how the contest is right now is one big political campain less about the work and more about how you get yourself out there.  I disagree it would be terribly easy to grade all of those skins. If each judge takes maybe an hour tops to grade then they can easily get them all done.  Granted you don't have to grade like its the finals just grade if you think they should move on to the next round.  Better than the diamond system because the move views you get the more diamonds you are bound to get.  For instance I was in a facebook contest once and it was for a helment.  To win you needed to get the most likes on a photo.  My photo just generic and pretty lame compared to the others.  Only reason why I won was because I asked every person I knew to like it.  That's similar to what you see with PMC contests.  They don't see every skin so there might be the diamond in the rough that they miss which isn't right and not a true contest.
