Hello and welcome to my blog! I am killduber, today i will hopefully help you
with attracting more attention to your minecraft server.
Advertising for a server sounds simple but it's more about how you market yourself to others more
than anything. There's a few steps to advertising correctly, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes
you don't. Either or, hopefully i can help you out with bringing more players in.
Planning
Step 1: Make sure you have a "server plan" ready to go and ready to be put in action at all times.
Plan out where you are going to take your server and your players about 3 months in advance.
Reeling out new content? You should have it planned out many weeks ahead to avoid any
unseen issues. Trust me, it's a constant battle of fixes errors and making things compatable with
each other and you don't want to have that happen when you already have players on your server.
Step 2: Have an original, and unique server. You have to differentiate yourself from the other
servers. Make sure your server is complete and ready to go before releasing it to the general
public. If a player logs in and notices it isn't complete, they may or may not leave depending on
who they are, But nine times out of ten they'll leave if they notice any bugs or anything that
doesn't seem complete.
Marketing
Step 3: This part is the most difficult part you will come to, but after you cross it and get a decent
player base going on it's smooth sailing from there. Make sure when you advertise on youtube, PMC, or anywhere else try to interconnect it as much as possible within the confines of those
websites rules. Make sure you post your server on as many places as possible. The more exposure you get means that you get more views. And increasing the chance of you getting a view also increases the chance that a player might log on and check what you have going on out.
Step 4 [IMPORTANT]: This is one of your most important steps. Put yourself in a players shoe, and look at two different servers. There are many factors which might make you join, but you are more inclined to look at the server which comes off as more professional at the first glace. You have to make sure that you spend time on the pictures you make or anything you write about your server, also make sure you are gramatically correct. If you create a video, make sure it looks like
it was made by a professional. First impressions are everything, and you can make them as easily as you break them.

Step 5: Talk to people! Pretend you are in a politicians shoe. You are leading many people and the people who play your server might look up to you, so set a good example. The friendlier you are, the more people will like you and ultimately the more people that will stick around. Talk to people in pmc's chat room (make sure you stay in the server room!) about your server and you never know, you might get a bite.
Step 6: Encourage voting! This helps your server gain more attention. However, never pester anybody about it and most certainly do not force them to. Such behaviour is extremely unethical and it will end up with you losing more players than you gain.
