(not sure if it works on mac's, also some people may have removed the 'previous versions' option on their computer, if this is the fact, you can always look for a new bin online, just watch out it could be virus, that's why this is the SAFEST and FASTEST way to get your Minecraft 1.4.5 Back!)
As you may know, Minecraft 1.4.5 came out a short time ago, But servers and mods haven't updated yet, So I'll be showing you how to Downgrade Minecraft in order to get mods and get into the servers you want to play on...
1. navigate to your .Minecraft folder (by typing %appdata% in the start search bar), inside you will see a folder called bin.
2. right click on it.
3. click on properties.
4. look for the option that says 'previous versions'
5. click on it.
6. find a previous version of the game... preferably from 'last week' or 'last day'
7. click on the one you want and move your mouse down to the bottom of the window and click restore.
(it will load and a window will pop up saying that its been restored)
8. give a diamond when this works for you!
