Hello everyone! Lately I've been noticing that people are unable to figure out how to download mods for the enw minecraft launcher. So I've decided to make a list of steps and also collect a few videos that hopefully will help you out.
Step 1: Locate your minecraft by searching in the start bar "%appdata%"
Step 2: Open the ".minecraft" folder
Step 3: Open the "Versions" file
Step 4: Create a new folder in the versions file named 1.6.1mod (or you can do whatever version minecraft you want followed by any word you'd like, no spaces)
Step 5: After creating your modded folder, open the "Version(version)" folder
Step 6: Copy everything from that folder into your new modded folder
Step 7: Inside your MODDED folder, rename the .jar file 1.6.1mod.jar (Or whatever you named your modded folder) Also rename the JSON file 1.6.1mod.json (Or whatever you named your modded folder)
Step 8: Open the .JSON file with notepad, then click the "edit". In the edit's dropdown menu, click "replace"
Step 9: Where it says "Find what" put the version of minecraft you're in EX: Find What: 1.6.1
Step 10: Where it says "Replace with" put the name of your modded folder's name EX: 1.6.1mod
Step 11: Open your .jar file in your MODDED folder with winrar, then delete META-INF
Step 12: After delete META-INF, drag your mod into your .jar file.
You should find your modded folder name in your minecraft launcher's version dropdown box.
