How to Get a Headstart on 1.6 Textures!
Requirements:
1. First off you want to go to Mojang.com and download the new minecraft launcher. When you download it, it should have a Profile Selection, Service Status and a Login.
The profile selection should say:
Profile (Default)
Version: snapshot 1.6
Status: Up to Date.
2. Log in and install the snapshot.
3. Once you've installed it close MineCraft.
4. Open the Start Menu () and in the search program files box type in %appdata%
5. It should take you to AppData. Once you open AppData go to Roaming. You should find
.minecraft
6. Open up .minecraft and open the versions folder. Open 1.6.jar with an archive program (WINRar, 7zip etc.)
7. Once your in the 1.6 folder go to assets to minecraft and then open up textures.
8. Create a new folder of any name and drag all the folders from textures in the folder that you create (Folder shouldnt be .zip)
7. Once you've done that find the textures that are new such as "gold_horse_armor.png"
and texture your way through!
Extra - In minecraft 1.6 the Texture packs will be renamed "Resource Packs" and will include more than textures such as sounds. The formatting for the Texture packs will be different. Mojang made a tool to convert your Texture Pack into a resource Pack. Click This to download the texture pack converter.
