Hello everyone.
In this tutorial we are going to see how to install a resource pack on your own map (not in a server).
You probably have seen already that you need to put a zip file named resources.zip that contains the resource pack in your map's root folder.
This is how I interpreted this:
I just went, compressed the resource pack, and put it into the map's folder.
It did not work.
I went to the minecraft logs, and it said the following:
(Yes, I was using the latest snapshot at the moment, but it doesn't matter, it is also for 1.8)
This is what was happening:
When I compressed my resources into resources.zip, I was putting a folder called resources into the zip file itself.
The structure of the zip file came out like this:
This is not what Minecraft was looking for.
Minecraft was looking for the following structure:
For example, in a Mac, instead of saying Compress "resources" into "resources.zip", I had to select all the items in resources and then click Compress # Items, change the zip file's name to resources.zip, and put it in the root of the map folder.
I know it is awful to have to compress, replace zip file, etc. every time you change something, so I suggest you work on /path/to/minecraft/resourcepacks and when you are finished, that is when you compress the contents of your resource pack.
I hope that helped you :D
