Introduction

Hey, people! I am sure we all were and still are wondering how can we know which enchantment we are going to get on the enchanting table. You want to know if you are going to get Sharpness I or Knockback I on your sword. This is why I am here - YOU CAN NOT KNOW FOR SURE. But there is a little chance that you will "guess" what enchantment you will get.

The Standard Galactic Alphabet

The arcane glyphs that float from bookshelves to the enchanting table and the cryptic runes in the enchantment table's interface are written in the Standard Galactic Alphabet. The runes are randomly constructed from a specific list of words. Three to five words are chosen from the list and appended to each other, then displayed in the Standard Galactic Alphabet. The words chosen are random and are purely cosmetic: they have no relation to the enchantments that will be applied to the item and are not saved on the enchanted item. Why I bolded this? Because usually one of the words are connected to the enchantment - for example : "fire" in the glyphs and it's most likely to be connected to fire. Still not sure? "Ignite" is another random word of the list and I am pretty sure that there is an enchantment that deals damage over time with your sword.

Conclusion

I tell you again that this is not 100% accurate but still helps I hope. Who knows, maybe after some time, we will find the secrets of the enchantments and the enchantment table!

If you have any suggestions on what you think the words mean and to what enchantment they are connected to feel free to share with us.

If you have any suggestions on what should I make a blog and research next leave a comment! :)

Personally, I've discovered that the word "Dry" is linked to the possibility of Fire Aspect, and "Galvanizing" is linked to Unbreaking. I've not seen "Ignite" pop up in my own tests, so I can't be certain of its closeness to Fire Aspect, but I am planning to run a full test at some point and form some sort of direct link between various word and enchantments.

Have you tried ignite for bow? It could be flame.

Actually, "Fire" is linked to the Flame enchantment. That one is actually pretty easy. (I know, I was surprised too. You wouldn't think Mojang would be that simple about it.)
Another surprisingly simple one is "Infinity." I'll give you two guesses as to what that one can net you.
