I Had an old but good computer with no OS. So I installed Ubuntu Linux loved it. A few weeks later I played Minecraft and wanted to make my server. So I made one with the standard vanilla. But i wanted better. So I looked Youtube for tutorials on how to make a bukkit server on linux no help. After a couple weeks of playing around with it I mastered it. So I thought hey why don't I make a tutorial of my own. The video I'm going to post is my video off of Youtube from a few months back.
Step 1
Make sure you have java correctly installed on your server.
Step 2
create a folder called server.
Step 3
Download the current bukkit recommended build.
Step 4
place the downloaded .jar file to the server folder.
step 5
rename the .jar craftbukkit.jar
step 6
Copy this java command from right here [java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar] without brackets.
step 7
open a new terminal in the server folder or navigate to it by using the change directory command.
step 8
paste the java command and run it. You should see several files generate.
step 9
Port forward your router. By adding port 25565 (If you don't know how to get to your routers setting open a terminal and type route-n and copy the gateway address and paste it in your web browsers url bar. It will enter the settings now from here your going to have to figure out by reading a manual or looking online. because everybody's router is different,)
step 10
configure the server.properties to fit your needs.
step 11
Go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ copy your IP and paste inside of minecraft as your servers IP
step 12
If It all went good you should have logged on to your server good luck and have fun!

Nice tutorial but after step 7, the instructions get hard to read. Its like they have a white highlight and they got bunched up.
