When I was interested in skinning, I had no clue how to make one. But I found out, and am writing a blog on how to create and upload your own skin:
1. Open minecraft.jar with winrar, 7-zip, archive utility, or whatever you have.
2. Scroll down minecraft.jar until you find a folder named o mobo .
3. Open it and find o char.pngo , then copy it to a new folder and name it whatever you wish.
4. Name the new o char.pngo o skindefault.pngo , and you have set up how to use a skin.
5. The rest is easy. Every time you want to make a new skin, copy the default and change the name to the name of the skin.
6. After youo ve copied and renamed it, open it with Photoshop; Paint does not work, and Io m not sure about Gimp
7. Now you just design it. Make sure that before you save it, there is only one layer; if there is more than one, press command+e on a Mac, or control+e on a PC. Keep pressing it until there is only one layer. Finish your skin.
8. Now ito s time to upload it. Log into your PMC account, go to skins, then click upload skin. Name it, describe it, and choose the category. Then click upload. Click in the space. Now locate your skin and double click on it. Next, click save (not the one on the top, the one where the word upload used to be)
9. After it finishes loading, check to make sure that the skino s photo is there. If there is the wrong skin, check to make sure that you didno t use Paint, and that you actually uploaded the right one. If there is no skin, your skin is the wrong size.
10. If it works, click the save button on the top of the screen and voila, you have uploaded your own skin!
I hope that this tutorial helped you.
