1) Players like BIG awesome spherical spawns. Download a schematic and put it in your WorldEdit, then give credit to the builder of that spawn.

2) If you're using a host (Like I am) make sure to add ranks, Member, VIP, Donator, etc. and add different prices and once they donate give them special perks that a normal player wouldn't have. I recommend PEX(PermissionsEX) when trying to do the permissions.

3) Make sure to have some awesome plugins to help players protect their stuff such as Residence, PlotMe, or even better Factions(more fun)

4) Don't forget to post your server right here on PMC, bump your submission daily you'll get 50 different players a day. 1/5 of those players will most likely become a player that logs on daily on a regular basis.

5) MOST IMPORTANT! Make sure to have good staff! Make them post applications that thoroughly describe them. Test them, see how they do on their position.

6) Set down the rules for your players! Make sure they see those rules and realize that they have to follow those guidelines! For example, on my server I have a cool test system where you have to read all the rules and take a test by going through the correct doors and reading the correct signs! After passing the test, get the 'Rules' plugin so that they re-read all the rules then issue the command /acceptrules

7) Have something fun for them to do! Lots of great plugins like 'SimpleSpleef', 'MobArena', 'War' and LOTS of others!

8) At your spawn make sure you have the 'ColoredSigns' plugin and make it look nice. Decorate the spawn and make sure to make it match the surroundings

9) Get some type of logging plugin. There's many out there, but the most favored is LogBlock but requires a MySQL database. If you don't have that you could use CoreProtect

10) HACKERS! Don't let them hack and ruin the fun for all the other players, get some plugins like NoCheatPlus(my favorite) or get AntiCheat. It'll keep them from using clients such as Nodus. But watch out for clients self-coded!
