This is just a basics tutorial that I wrote a long time ago. Hope it helps :)

How to hide the UI: Press F1, For Mac users, press fn+F1

How to take a Screenshot: Press F2. For Mac users, press fn+F2

How to get "Fancy" looking textures: To get fancy looking textures for you screenshot, press Esc > Options > Video Settings > Graphics: Fancy. You have to click the Graphics button until it says "Fancy".
Change you Render distance to Far to get better colour out of your screenshots. If you want more particles, hit the Particles button until it says All.
To get even prettier textures, install Optifine.

How to hide waypoints in the Rei Minimap mod:
Press M in-game to open the Minimap menu. At the bottom there are three buttons. Press the one that says "Waypoints" Click the button that says "ON" on the Waypoints you want to turn off, it will then say OFF. Press Esc to exit the menu.

Image is not by me, I would have made my own version, but the shaders mod doesn't work for me. Sorry.

Awesome, this is very helpful! I found here: http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/screenshot/ some built in features to take a screenshot, but they don't work well inside the game, but this does! Thanks for the help!

you know my project hectorvik that i posted? well i followed what you said AND used gimp, yet blocks in the distance still look really low quality, just look at the cover picture!

Well first of all make sure you have the furthest render distance you can get. Then make sure your graphics are maxed out. This should be fine. Now, Minecraft blocks will always be lower quality when further away. That's just how it is and the only way to change that is to make a render using Chunky, for example. One more thing to remember is that the cover image is always really low quality on PMC. PMC generally reduces the quality of images uploaded, presumably, to reduce the page loading time. What you can do is add the images into the description and they'll be HD. I'll tell you how to do that, if you'd like me to.
