without further ado, here it is!

BTW: This tutorial is done with paint.net

How To Texture Blocks! By Frost

So guys the amount of flatly colored, boring, simple and ugly texture packs ive seen that have been posted on pmc is ridiculous.
People think "Oh ill make a texture pack! Itlle be easy!" well its not.

To make a decent texture pack takes alot of time ,effort and dedication to make.
So today ill be explaining how to texture a block for a texture pack!

So when peoples always decide to make a simplistic pack as there first pack, and i dont blame them, its very easy.
But the problem is most people end up with something like this:
RLEUpng
This is a bad texture, it has no shape or look to it.
try and make something a bit less square like this:

kdkKkpng
this is better but its still not a great texture, it needs shading and a bit more PAZAZZ! XD
So for some basic shading you want to select the color black and turn down the transparency to around 31 and you can start
iaKjpg

Ok so first use this transparent black and go round the edges of each section and make it darker like so:
ZyjhTpng
Then at the corners you want to layer up the shading, maybe if you have any long edges darken it up there.
You can do this by using the transparent black on top of areas, like so:

DHniNpng
You still keeping up? Good. well now you want to darken it more at the corners and other parts youve darkened gradually and also integrate it towards the inside of the block, like this:
cRppng
Now just layer it once more like the last step and you get this:
XFCBpng
looks pretty good doesnt it?
well now you may want to add some finishing touches like darkening the underside of the grass or even adding highlights!
QYigMpng

And wallah! you've made quite a nice looking texture for a pack you may be making!

I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial and if you did it would mean so much if you could diamond this post and subscribe,
Thanks Guys!

You could always use the burn tool or the darken tool...
