The following is an interview of a Minecraft server owner.
Format: Q= Question
A= Answer
Q: Is it "fun" running a Minecraft server?
A: Well, actually, it's not. Remember, server owners are responsible for a massive community of players, and in my case, five communities of players. That means doing everything from hiring staff and disputing legal problems to launching advertisement campaigns. It used to be fun when I first started, but after a few years, it becomes work.
Q: What do you think the key to the success of a Minecraft server is?
A: Dedication, but especially unique content you won't find anywhere else. I don't mean random content, I mean entertaining (not just for the owner!) content that everyone finds interesting.
Q: Where do you find the time to run a server?
A: I don't.
Q: How many times have you had to explain what a Minecraft server is to friends, family, and such?
A: Way too many times.
Q: If you don't think running a Minecraft server is fun, why do you run one?
A: Maybe it's not fun for me, but it gives all my staff members a chance to experience what running a company is like, and also, my players absolutely love my server.
Q: Do you believe in opping people?
A: No.
Q: How old are you/
A: 13.
Q: Wow, you seem mature for age 13. Where do you think this maturity comes from?
A: To be honest, I believe it came from owning a Minecraft server.
Q: Are there any other upsides to owning a Minecraft server that help you when you're not using a computer?
A: Yes, my grammar is spot-on.
Q: Thank you for your time.
A: No problem.
To be continued in part 2.
