Hello, and welcome to my interview with ahashley! She is a talented skin creator known for her soft and cosy designs and her minimalistic shading style. :) I hope you enjoy our interview!
My questions are in dark blue; her replies are in light blue.
1. What inspired you to start making Minecraft skins?
1. I actually made a skin for the first time in March 2020 I think, but I got more into it after a previous friend told me about it more. I wasn't nessicarily "inspired", I think I just didn't want a plain Steve/Alex skin anymore, haha. Also I was pretty tired of the "Adidas Flower Crown Girl Cute" skin I was wearing LMAO
2. How did you discover PMC? What is one of your favourite memories of the site?
2. I discovered PMC after being a Skindex user for so long (tragic, really). To be fair, I don't interact with a lot of people in the skinning community, so I can't exactly say I have a favorite interaction/experience on the site. Something I enjoy about PMC is definitely the trending skins page. I cannot express how much PMC's trending page has more skins that were made with real talent, and weren't like-botted (unlike Skindex haha)
3. Do you have a persona? If so, what inspired you to create them?
3. I do, but it's really really outdated, and I'm actually working on a new one! I was really inspired by candy for my previous (current? idk haha) persona, and I wanted something that could reflect my personality and style. I truly do not want to link my old persona out of pure embarrasment because I dislike how it looks. Immensely.
4. Do you have a favourite submission that you've made? Your favourite that someone else has made?
4. To be fair, I'm not really satisfied with my style of skinning but there are certain skins I've made that I do enjoy. The first was a recent valentines skin, if you can't tell, I like pink. A ton... Another one I like is this skin, which is a remake of an old skin. I really like cigarist's skin, how all the colors match so so perfectly and how the style blends and matches perfectly. Also Rhines skin, which I couldn't stop staring at- the white palette is gorgeous and the overlay is stunning and so on-point.
5. Who would you say has influenced or inspired you the most on PMC?
5. I'm really inspired by Soraa/Rhines, and I love cigarist's colors a lot. As for outfit designs and color combinations, I really look up to kiyeo, whose skins never fail to disappoint.
6. If you could add one feature to PMC, what would it be? Would you remove any preexisting features, and if so, which one(s)?
5. To be honest I really dislike how the site is centered in the middle of my screen with brick walls on the side, it just bothers me a lot that the whole page isn't being used up. Understandably, if the bars were removed the screen might be too in your face when blown up but I think the site would look a lot better without them personally. I don't use PMC that often, only to post skins and rarely interact with people, so there aren't many flaws (none, at that, actually) that I have noticed specifically.
7. What other hobbies do you enjoy outside of PMC? What other fandoms do you enjoy besides Minecraft?
7. Other hobbies I enjoy out of PMC are doing art (digital, to be specific, haha), reading, cooking, watching tv, and playing video games of course ;) I don't actually associate myself with any other fandoms, haha. I do love Violet Evergarden though, mostly the art style because Gilbert is weird and Violet is weirder for liking him. But I definitely don't want to associate myself with any anime fandoms for now.
8. What would you consider your greatest accomplishment here on PMC? In real life?
8. I always freak out when skinmakers I look up to like/comment on my skins, it's honestly very flattering to be noticed by them, so probably that. As stated before, I don't usually use PMC, so I haven't gotten deep enough into the community to be able to really do anything incredibly significant or notable. I don't have a huge accomplishment in real life that sticks out to me, but something I did recently that I'm really happy with was redoing my desk setup and room. I got a new keyboard and mouse which is super exciting, and my room is now very pink themed, (very me)!
9. What is a cause you especially believe in? What would you like others to know about it?
9. A cause I especially believe in would definitely be the #stopasianhate movement. It was really brought to light recently and I feel like it's really important because racial inequality is a real thing, it's messed up, and it's time for people to grow up and realize that it's not ok. I don't want to go too into detail about my thoughts on it, because that would probably be a whole other tangent. I feel like many people have stopped bringing attention to this subject lately actually, but with the world's current state I dont blame them. It would be nice to spread awareness on different platforms, and push for topics like this to be discussed in school a lot more. Currently, many schools refrain from talking about a lot of topics that are really important to be educated about, and I hope that it can change soon.
10. Do you have any pets? If so, tell us a little something about them, or feel free to show us if you'd like!
10. Sadly, I do not! I do babysit cats once in a while, and they are the cutest things ever. One is black with the cutest tail ever, and the other one is ginger with patches of darker color with pretty pretty green eyes. ^^
11. Do you have a current goal for your content?
11. Hmm, not really. Recently I've just been making skins that I like and would wear for myself, and haven't really thought about content other people would like. (Does that make me selfish? LOL) Anyways, I really want to develop my style more and get a broader reach on my audience. Maybe stray away from Minecraft skins/Minecraft in general too, as sad as that may sound, because Minecraft just isn't doing what it used to for me.
12. How would you describe yourself in three words?
12. Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss. (Maybe)
More realistically, probably Sarcastic, Dramatic and Cute >.< (jk about the last one)
