Hello people! Im just posting a blog update saying your not the only person whos launcher wont work! The minecraft website is having a server update, probably! :) So keep calm all! And hang around in the PMC chat or somthing, dont fret though, you can still play offline! Have fun minecrafting guys! And be sure to subscribe to see my skins and buildings, im currently working on a new adventure map :) ~ Noggin

The server lag is because bukkit plugins haven't been updated to 1.3.1 yet, if you make a vanilla server it wont lag like bukkit servers because a vanilla server has no plugins, and by the way servers aren't hosted at mojang's servers. Their hosted at data centers where people purchase them. :)
