As Xmas comes the feeling of, the feeling of, ummm I don't know what to call it so let's just call it "The feeling to create something simple and Christmasy that turns out to be very time consuming and if you mess up it'll be so devastating you just delete the world and scrap your idea and quit playing for a few hours." feeling.
I was browsing for ideas for Xmas decorations and came across a picture of a snow globe with a lovely little cottage with some trees and snowmen in the yard. I thought it would be cool to make that in Minecraft! I bet it would be an ultimate secure place too since NO ONE CAN GET IN (remember that). So I made my plans. I went to the site where you input the size of the sphere wanted and you get a 3d pic as well as a 2d pic you can scroll down layer at a time to get the layout. Then I did a quick hunt for a seed with a snow biome in it. I am ready to go.
I went into creative mode and flew around to find a good spot to build. I noticed there were no villages or ANYTHING structural so I will eventually create one too. Maybe an Elf village. Spot found. I used glass blocks to begin the globe and after a while my eyes started messing with me so I used blue stained glass every few layers. As I was building I noticed all the frames in the clear glass showed which would ruin the whole effect I was going for. I decided to go with the white stained glass. I will look for a texture so I can use frameless CLEAR GLASS later. After HOURS of going in circles, counting and recounting, zooming in and out day and night, the sphere was DONE!!! Then the crappy part came where I had to replace over 75% of the blocks with the right block. After another hour or more I was done.
Next I built the base by digging down. Easy. Then the cottage and trees. The snowmen were last because I wanted to get a picture of it. Needless to say it hasn't happened yet cause as soon as they spawn the run around worse than a child told they can go and get any toy they want in a toy store. I decided to use the weather command to bring in the snow for that perfect pic. I don't know if it is my being on Beta, but the rain came 😆. (rain is used in snow biomes to bring snow) Yaaaa, not gonna work even though there were layers of snow showing, it was streaks of rain and a dark grey sky that provided it. So I cleared up the sky and took my pic. Goal complete! I might fine tune it later but like hell if I wanna make another sphere like that AGAIN 😆. SOMEONE MAKE A MOD THAT ALLOWS US TO INPUT OUR SIZE AND BLOCK TYPE SO WE CAN JUST PLOP IT DOWN 😆.
Once done I created an Elf barracks on top of a ice mountain and their shops in the valley. Then I spawned a Villager for each bed. Took a bit to solve the water freezing for the crops and still have a problem with one villager spending all day in the minecart providing the way up and down the mountain. Eventually I had to spawn a few more villagers cause a few ran away I guess. It was late so I decided to call it a night. I'll sort this village and shops lated. I went back to my base (the house in the globe which only has access at the VERY TOP) to store the stuff I used and to show my husband the globe. When I went to the hidden area downstairs THERE IN MY BED, IN MY HOUSE WAS A VILLAGER!!! WTF!!! HOOOOWWW?? I dunno how he got in there! I noticed a ravager stuck on a mountain too so I just had a little fun and built him his own little box so he can contemplate what caused him to make the bad choice to become a banner waving pillager 😆. So, I just want wanted to share my snow globe and am wondering what kind of winter themed stuff is coming. I already made a snowman, an two Elf skins (I'll figure out the whole uploading thing eventually). Can't wait to see what other unusual things come out.
