Student presentations are coming on really well.
Objective
The objective of this class is for students to introduce something they are interested in (such as a hobby or particular item), explain why they like it and why they chose it. After that, they should give the audience 2-3 questions about their presentation to check comprehension.
Tools
I initially planned to do the presentations in Minecraft only, where the plug in FramePictures would be used. However, it has a few problems by the looks of things. When I moved out of the area where I had been making my presentation and then moved back in again, the picture had disappeared.
I instead chose to use Google Docs, and in particular their presentation software. So what I have settled for can be seen in the above picture.
- Students make a placeholder to show off something about their presentation in a booth. In the picture you can see a gameboy, some beer and spirits, and Garron (i think he is called, he is from LoL) etc.
- In each of the booths is an NPC created with Citizens 2. This NPC has the skin and name of the person assigned to that booth.
- On the stand that the NPC is on, a sign is placed which can be clicked to give a URL link to the presentation online (such as this). This was done with the plugin: Variable Triggers.
Contents of the presentation
A very loose guideline was given for students including:
- A title
- What you are talking about
- Why you chose it
- The best thing about it
- How long you have been doing it (or how long you have had it if it is an item)
- Why others should do it. (or should want it)
- Conclusion
- Three Questions
Students made their presentations during the remaining class time, sharing a link with me so that I could provide corrections and give advice.
Next week students will present what they have created to their classmates and we will conduct a quiz (based on all of the questions students made as part of their presentation).
