The Histories of Drogan's Landing as Recorded by the Monks of St. Bo'Arys Convent

The Reign of the 21st Lord Drogan: Kelgar, First of His Name

Kelgar, first of his name and son of Gredon, First of His Name, presided as the 21st Lord Drogan. Following his father's death he and his fellow Human Lords committed to leaving the Bogarade in the hands of it's native inhabitants. Kelgar and all the banner-men of Drogan joined with the Lords Stark and Calister and their Banner-men.

Together their forces pushed through the eastern desserts of the Bogarade, and into the ice barrens. For nearly a year they marched through the snow and blizzards, making small encampments and taking shelter in caves when possible. Many lives were lost to the bitter cold. With their morale falling and infighting on the rise the entire enterprise was nearly lost.

The journey was saved when a scout of the Starks found a large area of hot springs in a valley. The timing was impeccable as the deep winter fell down upon them. Five months were spent there as the biting cold made travel too deadly to risk.

Having weathered the deep winter with moderate success some wished to stay and make their home here rather than chance what may lie ahead of them. To keep the disagreement from turning into an war they could not afford the Lord Stark announced that he would remain at the springs. He also gave his banner-men the choice to leave or stay, and stay they did except for the Gallens. Kelgar and the Lord Calister decided to continue east. Allowing any of their banner-men the option to stay. Of the Drogan Banner-men, Ser Erenhall made the choice to stay for the sake of his daughter who was promised to the Stark family. Kelgar and his banner-men with Lord Calister and his banner-men continued east of Camp Winterfell dividing an equal share of the supplies with the Lord Stark and his banner-men.

Having traveled nearly as far from Camp Winterfell as they had from Botueen through endless snow and losing nearly a third of their men, many whispers spread that they might all perish in such a waste land. Finally they had reached a sea, the Sea of Lost Hope. It was decided that the best of their efforts would be to make small ships and sail around the edge of sea. All seemed hopeless at first along the icy shores until at last bright green grasses waved at them from a meadows shore line.

Kelgar's ship landed before a large boulder at the mouth of a river. Upon disembarking Kelgar kissed the boulder and called it the Rock of Spes. It was here that Kelgar knew he would make a new home. Lord Calister and his men continued north, supplies were divided evenly between the Drogans and the Calisters.

Fishing and some foraging saw Drogan's Landing through it's first year, and though there were hardships it did not compare to the journey through the Ice Barrens. the first homes were simple and not unlike the dwellings fashioned by the Bo'Gari outside of Botueen. The first crops of winter wheat saw the village through into the planting season.

In the second year the Bo'Gari monks established a convent where they helped tend to the ill. The first child to be born in Drogan's landing was born to Ser Green, and he was named Darren.

In the fifth year of Drogan's Landing Kelgar celebrated his 27th birthday. An envoy arrived that year from WinterFell, they brought good news in that Winterfell was developing into a thriving town. Kelgar was pleased to hear good news of his childhood friend. Along with gifts of spirits and honey, the Lord Stark had sent Kelgar and offter to marry his sister, Ellehana Stark.

Lord Stark himself escorted his Ellehana to Drogan's Landing for the wedding. They had brought many barrels of mead with them from Winterfell. The wedding celebration lasted for eight days. So much food was used for feasting that when the mead had left from them, some wondered if there would be enough to last until the harvest.

In the sixth year of Drogan's Landing a son was born to Lord Drogan, he was named Gredon after the 20th Lord Drogan. With the supplies of food stable it was in this year that Kelgar appointed the first scribe who would pen his words into the Charter of Drogans landing.

The next fourteen years passed in relative peace. The Drogan's Landing grew and trade had been established with Winterfell to the East and Calisport to the North.

In the fifteenth year disagreements over taxes and other petty matters. Lead by Ser Gellan a small rebellion had taken root. In order to preserve tranquility, a peace had been negotiated by the Honorable Gredon. In exchange for continued loyalty to the Lord Drogan the Gellans were allowed to establish a chartered village on the south bank of the Reighlis River. Ser Gellan and his followers established Sjinborough, and the second settlement in the Kingdom of the Reighlland.

The next ten years passed in peace. Drogan's Landing continued to flourish along side the Port of Sjinborough. Many ships brought supplies from Calisport, while caravans arrived from Winterfell. Clever merchants earned many a gold from selling fine mead from Winterfell to traders of Calisport.

In the twenty-fifth year of Drogan's Landing, Kelgar took ill. The honorable Gredon functioned as proxy for his father. He was loved by the people.

In the twenty-sixth year of Drogan's Landing. During the planting season, Kelgar took his final breath. The whole of the Reighlland mourned for eight days, and on the ninth day they comitted Kelgar's remains to earth before the Rock of Spero.
